Tony Scott

Photo Shoot at Bridge

2 Years Before Suicide

8/20/2012 2:01 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0820_tony_scott_bridge_tmz_articleTony Scott was no stranger to the area where he committed suicide ... in fact, the "Top Gun" director conducted a photo shoot near the Vincent Thomas Bridge exactly TWO YEARS before his death.

TMZ obtained a photo of Tony -- along with four other men -- checking out some railroad tracks in San Pedro, CA on August 19, 2010 ... with the Vincent Thomas Bridge in the background.

During the shoot, Tony was sporting the same pair of red shorts he was wearing when authorities discovered his body on August 19, 2012.

Sources tell TMZ ... Tony and his crew were conducting a post-production photo shoot for Tony's movie "Unstoppable" ... which starred Denzel Washington.

The photos were taken by Scott Trimble ... who, according to IMDB, worked as an assistant production supervisor on "Unstoppable."

Trimble has since tweeted about the tragedy ... saying, "Tony Scott was a good man who will be missed."

He has established this bridge as the new jump off point for failing health, love lost, crimes committed and just random insaneness for Hollyweird types and regular crazy folks. Watch it happen. Hollyweird and the world has lost so much creativity that many will copy what he did.

I have driven over this bridge a hundred times. I used to live in Long Beach, which is located near the bridge, but the bridge itself is closer to San Pedro, both of which are located in L A County. This bridge is in L A County not L A. That said, this is a very dangerous bridge. I have never liked driving over this bridge, but one must do it to get to L A. It is very steep and it narrows down to just 2 lanes of opposite traffic. If there is an accident where the bridge does crest, those entering the bridge would never know it, nor would they know that they need to slow down or stop to avoid a pile up. This bridge is by the inport/export district and nor far from the Queen Mary, or Down Town Long Beach. As a former resident, I am curious as to why he did it and why he did in fact choose this bridge to do it on.

If sense were common everyone would have it.

That was a good movie, maybe not a 4-star winner, but a good action flick. I saw behind the scenes interviews, and while Tony was talking about the different scenes and how they came to be I thought "Gee he doesn't look too happy to be making this movie." He just seemed bored, or tired.

really tmz? i've seen an even more recent photo of scott standing on the same two legs he used to propel himself of the bridge. i wonder if in a couple of years, people will point to this story as eerily foreshadowing that harvey levin was a complete idiot.....

I guess he really liked that bridge and wanted to die there. God bless him.
