Britney Spears

'Medical Issue'

Is Behind Conservatorship

8/23/2012 12:03 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0823_britney_spears_article_tmzThere's a reason Britney Spears' conservatorship has lasted 4 1/2 years with no end in sight -- it's because she has a serious medical issue that prevents her from making consistently sound decisions ... TMZ has learned.

Documents were filed Tuesday in the conservatorship case, urgently asking the judge to seal certain records.  In the papers, lawyers for the conservators called the records "highly sensitive," adding "irreparable harm and immediate danger" would befall Britney if the documents weren't sealed.

Multiple sources with firsthand knowledge tell TMZ ... the records are medical documents outlining Britney's condition and treatment.

We're told the singer has a disorder affecting her personality that can affect her state of mind.  We're told she is doing "extremely well" but needs the safety net of a conservatorship.

Sources tell us there is no plan to end the conservatorship, and the judge is completely down with it.

FYI ... there are 2 components of the conservatorship -- the personal and the business.  The personal conservatorship allows Jamie Spears and Jason Trawick to make life decisions for her.  The business conservatorship involves managing Britney's career and fortune.  As for the business side, we're told it will probably go on indefinitely because it has been incredibly successful.

So, in other words she's a nutcase. Plain and simple.. Talented, but a nut case. No biggie

That is simply ridiculous! There are lots of people who suffer from things such as bipolar disorder, manic depression, etc.., and they can manage just fine on their own. So she had a breakdown -- a lot of people have. This is about having control of her money. If Charlie Sheen doesn't need a conservator I highly doubt Britney Spears does. It's hard to believe that something like this can go on in this country. Unless for some reason she is totally okay with this, it really needs to end.

A lot of people with 'medical issues' are able to have control of their own lives and money. These people need to get their hands out of her wallet already.

Just keep her away from pink wigs and we're cool.

All that's left is for her husband to plan the boating trip.

Like so many have said, she has that far away look in her eyes and she never really looks happy. You can tell just by watching her she isn't quite right.

This is all kinds of ****ed up. No way she should be getting married if she is that incompetent. If she needs to be controlled like a puppet, then she is in no condition to enter into a marital contract - one that will give the husband COMPLETE control over her personal and financial life. THAT IS NOT A MARRIAGE.

if they wont allow her to make decisions for her life, then why do they feed her drugs and prop her up in the hyper critical public eye? either give her freedom or give her the security of privacy because no one with mental/emotional issues should be in such a vulnerable position for all of us to cast stones at. I SMELL MONEY MONGERS!

It's no secret she had mental health issues.

My question is, if this girl can't make life decisions, how is she able to consent to a marriage?

There was an interview where she said something to someone not there. schiz or multiple personalities?
Whatever it is I feel sorry for her.

Is this article even necessary? It's no secret that she has a mental illness which has been successfully maintained in the last few years. The conservatorship has obviously taken one big stress out of her life & helped her deal with her condition so it's no surprise that no-one involved would want to change things right now.
