Lance Armstrong

Stripped of ALL

Tour De France Wins

8/24/2012 9:02 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
breaking news

Lance Armstrong is no longer a Tour de France champion ... the cyclist has been STRIPPED of his seven titles in the wake of allegations that he used banned performance-enhancers.

The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency made the announcement this morning ... Armstrong will not only lose his victories, he has also been banned from the sport of cycling for life.

Armstrong has adamantly denied the allegations ... claiming the testing process is "one-sided and unfair."

Lance released a statement responding to a USADA official yesterday saying, "There is zero physical evidence to support his outlandish and heinous claims."

"The only physical evidence here is the hundreds of controls I have passed with flying colors. I made myself available around the clock and around the world. In-competition. Out of competition. Blood. Urine. Whatever they asked for I provided. What is the point of all this testing if, in the end, USADA will not stand by it?"

According to cycling experts, Armstrong took over 500 blood and urine tests in his career, some 3 times a day. Of those 500 tests, over 100 of those tests were deemed "critical" because they came before and after winning or outstanding performances. These critical tests were sent by private overnight courier to some of the best testing labs in the world, in some cases the Tour critical tests were being tested in the USA within 6 hours of a finish. Of these 100 critical tests, none were found to even have marginal doping. Of the over 500 tests, none found doping. Of course you can make the argument that black market doping drugs are out in front of the worlds best testing labs, but is just not true, the labs can find anything. So, in end, we know that nearly 100% of all pro cyclists have done something with dope and that includes Armstrong and all of those who would testify against him. The big deal is, Armstrong obviously hardly did any, otherwise out of over 500 tests, some coming after his best performances, the best testing labs in the world would have some at least some minute trace of something, but they did not.

Read Lances rebuttal on his website. He says the USADA doesn't even have the authority to revoke titles and has made it their personal vendetta for 18 or 20 years to go after Lance, even though they have a rule for only going back 8 years max. I think it sounds like the work of a lone dumbass who hopes to be famous for bringing down Lance.

Except they don't have the authority to strip him of his tour wins. They can say they have but the UCI is the ONLY one who can strip him of those wins. Come on, TMZ, get with it.

No one ever wants to strip a hard working athlete who is a cancer survivor from hard earned medals. There must have been lots of evidence. $$$$$$

This is our tax dollars hard at work, when in America there is no monitoring of the dairy industry. I would rather have my tax dollars go to good use on something meaningful than to go back how many years to accuse someone of doping. Lance has taken numerous urine test and blood test and have passed them. Get a life USADA.

Anyone who would cheat on his wife and ask for a divorce on Valentines Day is capable of anything. The guy has no character.

Me Too

The USADA had more than twelve people lined up ready to testify and swear they had knowledge about lance's using. In addition, there was talk of previous urine tests that were dirty. What you guys don't understand is that sports and steroids is a cat and mouse game. The athletes and their suppliers try to keep ahead of the testing as well as they can, however, science has come a long way, and it's not so easy anymore. I hope the USADA plans to reveal the evidence against lance.

Harvey, check the jurisdiction. USADA can't strip Tour de France titles.

I just feel this is wrong. They had no concrete proof that he was doping. It seems like someone was on a witch hunt, and they finally got his head....so wrong!
