ANY WAY YOU WANT IT ... is exactly what the band Journey said when they were offered $500,000 to play a campaign event for Mitt Romney ... and they accepted, TMZ has learned.

Sources tell TMZ ... the shin-dig is set to go down at a private fundraising party in Tampa, FL on Thursday night while the Republican National Convention is in town. We're told the American Action Network threw down a whopping $500,000 to secure the 90-minute set.

Sources tell us ... Journey is NOT making a political statement by accepting the offer and made it clear -- it's just another gig.

Recently divorced Michaele Salahi will also be there (with an invite, no less) to cheer on her rocker boyfriend, Neal Schon.

Now, let's ask the Obama campaign who they'll be having at their convention and how much that's going to cost shall we? Back in '08 Obama was raking in the money big time from Wall Street and no one complained about it. Now that the teleprompter in chief is spending more than he's raking in and spending money like a drunken sailor, now people complaint about Romney? Double Standard there folks.

Well bless their good Christian/Mormon hearts for helping out that poor struggling band Journey when there are so many starving children in the world.

When I think of what kind of person would turn out to a Journey concert at a Mitt Romney rally, yeah, I see Michaele Salahi. That whole party is like one big dumb-blonde joke.

How disappointing and kind of sad. The legendary rock band "Journey" is going to do a $500,000 gig for the freakin' Republicans so they can raise money for Romney and Ryan?

I wonder what the original singer Steve Perry thinks about this. Maybe he can talk the rest of the guys in Journey out of doing this gig. Maybe Steve will agree to do a big reunion tour if they cancel this Republican convention gig. Journey with Steve Perry is MUCH better than the singer they have now. You can't replace Steve.

I'm not sure what guitarist Neal Schon and the rest of the band is thinking by agreeing to do this. Journey is from THE SAN FRANCISCO AREA ... about the bluest of blue areas in the whole country. Their song "Lights" is all about their hometown city by the bay.
