Michael Jackson

'This Is It' Promoters

Called Jackson a 'Mess'

9/2/2012 3:50 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0717_michael_jackson_article_gettyMichael Jackson was "an emotionally paralyzed mess" who was "scared to death" leading up to his planned "This Is It" concerts in 2009, this according to newly obtained emails sent by the promoters of the show.

In the emails, obtained by the LA Times, AEG's Randy Phillips traded messages back and forth with AEG President Tim Leiweke. In one email leading up to the 2009 press conference to announce the concerts, Phillips wrote, "MJ is locked in his room drunk and despondent ... I (am) trying to sober him up."

Phillips said Jackson was "an emotionally paralyzed mess," that Jackson was "scared to death," and that Phillips and Jackson's manager had to dress him. The press conference ended up being very brief and very strange.

The emails were part of the discovery in an ongoing lawsuit between AEG and the insurance company that backed the tour ... which is suing to get the $17.5 million policy nullified.

GOD

It must take a lot of drugs and booze to try to ease the guilt of being a child diddler.

In his prime Michael Jackson was no different than a professional athlete, if you look at video of him on tour in 1981 or the 84 Victory tour he is at the top of his game. He could sing and dance on that stage for 2 hours and not even breath heavy, he had all the confidence in the world. He was the undisputed King of Pop. Fast forward to the This is It tour, Michael was in frail health and addicted to drugs. He was now in his late 40's and not the dancer he was in his 20's on top of that MJ was a perfectionist who always wanted the fans to leave his show saying Wow! He took pride in giving the fans their money's worth. He saw the schedule on the This is It tour and knew he would never make it through all the shows. He was probably paralyzed with fear that he was not physically or mentally prepared for this tour and would cause him extreme anxiety. I wouldn't be surprised if the fear of not being able to make it through this tour kept him up every night and caused alot of his insomnia

Wasn't Kenny Ortega on Larry King after MJ died lying and saying he was fine and perfectly healthy and we would see that on the This Is It rehearsal videos? When in reality he was very concerned for Michael's health and well being? All of them are lying shady mofos, especially the white crackers just trying to make a buck off of MJ. It's amazing the man survived as long as he did with that crazy life he had. Geez. I wouldn't be surprised if he did do himself in, he did not want to live any longer.

I don't understand this... Michael didn't seem despondent on the "This Is It" press conference. Nervous maybe, but smiling and laughing, and happy to meet the fans again.

Jackson was a mess? That's putting it mildly. He was drug-dependent (he had a doctor with him injecting him with all sorts of drugs), alcohol-dependent, and emotionally about ten years old, which his handlers supported because it helped make THEM rich. This is a cautionary tale, and musical artists would do well to learn from it.

I'll tell you what's a mess....TMZ & their false reporting! TMZ has so much potential to be a great entertainment source, but my god the BS that comes from this site is laughable. RIP Michael--no one can victimize you anymore, including trash media!

What I do not understand if he was that drunk that they had to dress him how was he able to stand and talk without a slug for a press conference?
