Lattimer from 'The Program'

I Don't Abuse Dogs

... I RESCUE THEM!!!

9/12/2012 8:03 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0912_andrew_bryniarskidog_photo_launchThe guy who played Lattimer in the 1993 football flick "The Program" tells TMZ ... his animal cruelty arrest is total BS ... claiming the 25 dogs discovered in his Santa Monica mobile home are "rescues" that he was trying to place with loving families.

TMZ broke the story ... Andrew Bryniarski and his GF were arrested Saturday night after cops say they were neglecting the animals -- noting that several of the Pomeranians appeared sick and starving -- and claiming the home smelled like urine.

But Bryniarski says the cops are lying -- telling us, "Nobody cares for my dogs better than I do, or finds them better homes. These are lies ... and the only thing that smells like piss or maybe sh*t is the story from the Santa Monica Police Department."

Bryniarski tells TMZ ... "We bought the RV as a mobile adoption unit about a week ago to find good, forever homes for the majority of the poms, all of which we have raised ourselves or rescued."

So why would the cops make up the story? Bryniarski claims the City of Santa Monica doesn't want RVs posted up in the nice part of town ... and is doing anything they can to drive them out.

As for the dogs, we've learned all 25 are currently being held at the Santa Monica Animal Shelter ... but Bryniarski tells us he's doing everything in his power to get them back ASAP.

10:50 AM PT -- A spokesperson for the Santa Monica PD tell us ... cops do not have an anti-RV agenda ... and only responded to Andrew's motor home after receiving multiple calls from tipsters who had suspected animal abuse.

He rescues dogs by locking them up inside a trailer with no food or water.

He also played a football player in Necessary Roughness and in Any Given Sunday. Anytime you are making a football movie and you need a steroided up actor with limited talent I guess he is your guy? Oh yea, feed your dogs for the love of Petee!

Sorry, sounds more like a mobile puppy mill than a rescue.
If you buy an RV to take to the streets to peddle dogs you're breeding, that's not rescue. I think someone loves their little ankle-nippers soooooo much they just wanted to make more.

When it smells like a puppy mill and looks like a puppy mill.....you're caught!

He's a classic animal hoarder. You see them all the time, trying to "rescue" animals but effectively condemning them to a life of abuse and neglect.

I directed Andrew this past year on the horror series Chopper and can vouch that he genuinely seemed to have a huge place in his heart for dogs. He always brought some to set and seemed to do nothing but dote on them. I can't speak for what was going on at the RV, but I have trouble swallowing the cruelty charges.

First of all you DON'T keep 25 dogs in an RV. If the dogs are being kept in cages all the time in the RV that is wrong - they need exercise. PUPPY MILLS keep dogs in cages all the time. Secondly - if you are a rescue you certainly don't mobilize yourself - you should be screening and interviewing possible owners not just driving the dogs around trying to find them good homes. What do they do? Pull up into a Walmart parking lot and open the doors like a frickin ice cream truck and pass out puppies! And notice - the majority of the pics are of puppies. Something is wrong here.

Don't be fooled. those are not rescue animals..they are all purebred Poms ready to be SOLD! Glad they were taken away. My pom came from a 501-c rescue.

Typical animal hoarding situation. The people really think they are helping and somehow become so used to the mess and smell that they think everything is ok. His heart is in the right place, but it needed to be stopped.

How is it rescue when there is no visible food or water?? They were all caged. Sorry he is either an animal hoarder and meant well but was actually hurting these poor dogs or... based on the fact that the dogs are ALL poms and that many puppies.. all caged, smells strongly of puppy mill.

Real rescuers know their limits - they don't keep getting more and more animals, esp. if they have only an RV to house them. And by his own statement, some of the dogs are his own, so it sounds like some of them were breeding and having puppies. Rescuers believe in spay/neuter.

Nobody keeps 25 dogs in an RV with a stove unless you're asian and a chef.
