Evander Holyfield

IN CONTEMPT

$500k Child Support Debt

9/16/2012 5:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0608_evander_holyfieldEvander Holyfield's massive money problems continue -- TMZ has learned the boxing legend was held in contempt of court for failing to pay more than half a mil in back child support.

As TMZ first reported, the GA. Dept. of Human Services went after Holyfield because he owed $372,097.40 in support for his 18-year-old daughter, Emani Holyfield.

But according to court docs filed recently in Georgia, that amount swelled to $563,900.91. Evander was held in contempt and ordered to immediately fork over $2,950 a month to clear the debt. Holyfield got a big head start by cutting a check for $17,700 ... knocking his debt down to a cool $546,200.91.

But the payment plan is just the beginning ... the judge ordered that a percentage of Holyfield's income be earmarked to pay down the debt.

Calls to Holyfield's rep have not been returned.

what happens when the father doesnt make as much as he did?! ...its not that easy to go to court and get a downward modification. You have to show PROOF (not an easy task unless you can provided a letter from your boss stating you got fired from boxing & your unable to make the same amount of money again) you lost your income & the judge can go off your potential to earn which is why these guys fall so far behind. if it can happen to wealthy people, it can happen to you folk also...

millions of dollars and what hapended to it all? I do not feel sorry for him...Hopefully he gave all of his money away helping other people when his career was lucrative. It makes no sense and the understanding escapes me. He had a hugh start in life with meg dollars. All I can say is wow.

EH has at least 11 known kids and it's probably a few more than that. Celebrity-level child support for that many kids will drain anyone's bank account down to nothing after their income stream has dried up. Sounds like he probably never wrapped it up once in his life, so I can't feel sorry for an idiot like him.

You've been brainwashed by feminist whores! Ask you self why has it ballooned $174K and who is that money going to? If the mother was on welfare and foodstamps did the state of Georgia spend $546,200.91 on just this one child? Of course not! The state of Georgia is going to get half of all the money this girl gets, they're robbing this man! With divorce rates and children born out of wedlock hovering above 50% of course all of these whores and children of whores think it's ok to fleece a man for everything when we all know it doesn't take that much money to raise a healthy child.

Dad has to face the possibility of having his rights violated and being imprisoned for a debt which was made illegal in 1833. Debtors’ prison is a violation of our rights as humans. It also is against the law. It has been revived by bending the law to a new purpose. It is a violation of the 5th, 6th and 14th amendments as well as being a gross misuse of a Judge's discretion/contempt powers, which makes it reviewable by a Federal court under U.S. law, but good luck getting a Judge on the Federal Bench to review it. Everyone has drunk the kool-aid and believes that imprisoning someone will "help" them find the money. They assume Dads are all morons who would rather go to jail than pay the money which is ludicrous. Some states even re-arrest you after you have been released because you were not paying while you were incarcerated which leads to longer incarceration and NO MONEY!! Will somebody please get a clue?
