Game Show Contestants Sue

You SCREWED US

on $580k Question

Question: What is the most common computer password?
A) Password
B) 123456
C) I Love You

Answer: Depends on who you ask ... because two former game show contestants are now suing the people behind "Million Dollar Money Drop" claiming they guessed correctly ... but were hosed out of the $580k prize.

TMZ obtained a lawsuit filed by Andrew and Patricia Murray ... who appeared on the Endemol-produced game show back in 2011.

In the suit, the Murrays claim they wagered $580k after receiving the question: "According to the data security firm IMPERVA, what is the most common computer password?"

The Murrays claim they guessed B, based on personal knowledge of surveys and articles and having  read numerous studies on the Internet ... but they were told they were WRONG.

On the show, which aired on FOX, they were told the answer was A ... and the Murrays lost their shot at the money.

But in the suit, the Murrays claim they were tricked by Endemol producers ... because, "IMPERVA did not conduct its own objective survey of computer users but rather supports its assertion that 123456 is the most common password based on analysis of a hacking incident involving a website known as RockYou.com."

FYI -- the hacking incident referenced in the suit occurred back in 2009.

In the docs, the Murrays argue "If [they] would have known that the question was pertaining to a random, single incident ... they would have hedged their bets and played differently."

The Murrays argue that they were "tricked" -- despite the fact they were promised there would be no "trick questions." Now, they're suing Endemol, FOX, and others for the $580k -- plus punitive damages and other fees.

I guess they should do better homework. I've always read the most commonly used password IS "password" - duh. Sore losers.

the answer was definitely A. There were 2 surveys a few years ago that stated the word "password" was the most popular password. Mostly because most passwords require letters AND numbers, or mostly letters, so 123456 would not be the most popular.

Again, 123456 couldn't be the most popular because most passwords require letters and at least ONE number, for example: Password1, Password01, etc. However, the majority of passwords require letters, so 123456 couldn't be the most popular is it does not consist of any letters.

Is it just me or should the US changed laws pertaining to lawsuits? You can't take any stupid case to court

Ok I am confused. .
1. They guessed "B" - 123456
2. The correct answer was "A" - Password
3. IMPERVA stands by their 123456 claim.
4. They are suing because IMPERVA based their finding from one single incident.
5. They said that if they had known it was based off of one single incident they would have done things differently.
6. They are not suing because FOX claims the correct answer came from IMPERVA even though the website says their answer was correct. They are suing because of the REASON IMPERVA claimed THEIR answer would have been right which would have made them select a DIFFERENT answer?

The correct answer is password, anyone will tell you that. The show has done this more than once with contestants, it's the most blatant scam show out there now.

The correct answer is (A) PASSWORD which is a "DEFAULT" computer password for the majority of pc/mac computers and softwares. However, the most common computer password used by the "USER" is (B) 123456. It's a trick question because the question wasn't defined.

Before I looked at their answer I just knew they had chose "A". Most passwords require ATLEAST a letter.

I actually know one of these defendants (no joke!!). Very nice, not greedy, just going after what they believe is right....I just did a quick search and found that Imperva's website says "123456". How can they not win this lawsuit?? I say, good luck to them!!
