The Pointer Sisters

Hey Obama, Where's Our

White House Invite?

10/6/2012 9:45 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

100612_pointer_launchThe Pointer Sisters are PISSED they never got an invite from President Obama to sing at the White House -- especially considering their hit song, "Yes We Can Can,  was a perfect match for his famous campaign slogan.

TMZ caught up to Anita Pointer at LAX Friday and she tells us she's hurt the Commander in Chief never banked on the opportunity to blend his famous election platform "Yes We Can" with their 1973 classic -- which happens to be about making the world a better place.

Anita tells us she even reached out to the White House to ask about performing the hit tune for the Prez -- but heard crickets back.

So the question is, will she vote for him after the snub? Is there hope she can still sing at the W.H. -- ya gotta watch and find out.

And, in case you forgot, here are the Pointer Sisters in all their glory ...

Anything to get back in the the public eye for a few mins. Sad when you have to beg to be invited to WH.

I'm sorry, but if this was 1976, then this story might mean something. My God, this woman is talking about a song that they did in 1973 - nearly Forty Years Ago. The president doesn't use it in his campaign and I really don't see him using oldies for his campaign.
.
Besides, she seems to be the last pointer sister who is still on tour. According to Wikipedia, the rest of the group consists of a daughter and two other people who are no relation. The last real gig they had was in 2011.

BTW, that was a funky rendition they did on Soul Train wasn't it. Looks like they sang it live too. If only there wasn't those damn 40 years in between.

We don't hear much from Oprah this time around. Why is that? Did the Obama's dis her after they got into the White House? Oprah put a lot of time and money into their campaign.

Geez, that song came out a long time ago...... hardly think it really has any relevance to his campaign. And as the "reach out" was not acknowledged...I think it would be well advised to take that as a "No, thanks !"

Obama takes for granted that all blacks will vote for him. He is busy entertaining his RICH and famous Latinos, Eva Longora, George Lopez, Jennifer Lopez, Mark Anthony, etc. He thinks Oprah has him covered in the African American community.

That's because the Pointer Sisters are no longer relevant. Obama only makes friends with those that can further his soon to be ending White House visit.
