Lance Armstrong

No Apologies or Admissions

at Livestrong Event

10/20/2012 6:38 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

1019-lance-armstrong-livestrongLance Armstrong took the mic at a Livestrong event last night -- the charity he stepped down from this week -- but did not directly address his doping scandal, only saying it's "been a difficult couple of weeks for me and my family."

The gala dinner -- which was held in Austin, TX -- was expected to raise $2.5 million.

Armstrong is still a member of the board, but stepped down as its chairman on Wednesday as the doping scandal that has followed him for years continues to tear down his legacy.

He lost his endorsement deals this week with Nike, Giro Helmets, Trek Bicycles, FRS energy drink and Anheuser-Busch.

If Nike drops you, then you definately f--ked up. Case in point: Tiger Woods. Dude banged every slut under the sun, made his wife look like a total idiot, yet Nike stood by him. But, it's not like Lance would've been making Nike any more money anyways.

He should apologize, but not at the Livestrong event. The spotlight should be on raising money for cancer research, not his doping.

Seriously I am tired of hearing about this!! Yeah he took a few drugs who wouldn't after all he has been through?! He inspired a lot of people and what's wrong with that?! He may not have done it the right way but in the end he brought hope to cancer patients that had none! How about everyone start focusing on the good he has done versus the bad?

Ok. Lance has been stripped of his titles. Maybe he cheated.
So who do they give the wins to?
Every single second-place finisher was involved in doping allegations. Every single top-5 finisher was involved in doping allegations. Most top-10 finishers were involved in drugs.
According to Vice, by the time it's all said and done, Daniele Nardello will be crowned the greatest rider of his generation. As other finishers get wins vacated, he may end up winning every Tour de France he ever rode in.

I live overseas and he's become an American embarrassment. The fact that it was the US Postal Service team that engaged in such extensive subversion of the sport is ugly.

I do feel sorry that Lance is taking all the heat, since many other cyclists were doping as well, but Lance was the highest earner in the sport, and he was the face of the sport. I will never understand how he could be so careless as to take a risk that could result in this type of exposure in front of his children.

The issue for me is the character of your average American. All I see is arrogance and greed and fraud. You will do anything to get what you want, except earn it by genuine achievement. That's a sad example to set for the youth culture, which is why American youth have no optimism or potential.

Americans don't value genuine achievement.
