Travis Barker

10/21/2012 10:15 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

1019-travis-barker-getty-tattoosTravis Barker believes an LAPD officer pulled him over, and immediately labeled him a drug-toting gang member -- and says it's second time he's been "profiled" by law enforcement ... TMZ has learned.

Travis was on his way to pick up his daughter in L.A. Wednesday, when he got pulled over for not having a front license plate on his custom Chevy.

According to Barker's rep ... the officer gave him the ole once-over, saw his head-to-toe tatts ... and "then accused him of having drugs and weapons in the car."

Barker's rep tells TMZ ... he was also accused of having gang ties, and was asked to have his car searched by the officer -- which Barker allowed him to do.

Barker's rep tells TMZ , the drummer ultimately got off with a fix-it ticket -- but he's still pissed because the same exact thing happened about a year ago ... when an LAPD officer slapped him with a ticket for no plates and tinted windows.

Barker believes profiling is NOT okay -- but acknowledges that not all cops do it.

TMZ spoke with an LAPD rep who refused to comment on Travis' profiling accusation. The rep did say Travis is welcome to come in to any station to sit down and talk about the situation.

He should be lucky that he wasn't ticketed for riding around on a high horse.

Here's an idea... get plates put on your vehicles and then maybe you get pulled over.

You are not the first person to be profiled and certainly not the last. The world we live in if you look like a gang member and dress like a gang member most likely you are gonna be mistaken for one.

Last I heard, no front plate and tinted windows are illegal here in California.

Reno Actor

Um, why didn't you leave the license plate on the car the first time you got the ticket. Implication here is that you put it on to fix it the first time and then took it off again. Totally your fault. EVERYONE knows you can't have a tinted windshield in CA. Been against the law since before you were born. And, quite honestly, you DO look like a gang member and I'd think you were one to. That's life. Didn't anything in your head at any time say, "Gee, I might look like a gang member with all those tats. Maybe I shouldn't."

Let him walk in the shoes of LAPD for ONE night.

It's one of the gang capitals of our country, and Tattoos are how they differentiate and identify themselves.

No offense to those Tatted up, but a neck/face tattoo in a car at night is likely going to garner a second look, justifiably.

Get over yourself loser.

Hmmm maybe if you don't want this to happen, put the proper license plates on your car then you won't be stopped?

Hey dumba$$. Don't break the law with illegal tint , no license plates or a missing license plate and you won't get pulled over and have to worry about supposedly being profiled. I realize you think you don't have to follow the rules, newsflash sh1tbr4in, you do. How about you set a good example for your kids and your fans and follow the law.

really! really?

Yep and if I saw you in a dark alley, I'd profile you too. You look scary and dangerous. Isn't that the look you were going for?

The officers pulled him over for a reason. Get your tags squared away and STFU.
Oh yeah, let me guess, backward hat, saggy jeans, tats, no shirt or wife beater on a 40 year old man. What do expect someone to think; especially if he doesn't know who Blink 182 is. Big Pu$$y; quit whining.

I don't understand. He didn't have a plate on the front and his windows were tinted. He got a ticket for not having a plate on the front and having his windows tinted? We all get pulled over and asked stupid questions. Based on his appearance I'm not surprised he was asked a couple extra questions. Am I missing something here?

there's a difference between profiling and reasonable cause. If you don't have a legally required front license plate, and if your windows are beyond the shade legally allowed, then they see a tatted up probably acting pissed that he got stopped, that sounds like reasonable cause to me to be curious about possible drugs in the car. If you don't want to be "profiled"... put on a shirt, get a front license plate, and get your windows to a legally allowed tint... and you'll be cool

Get the plates you need and lighten the tint on the windows, and the cops will stop stopping you for it, brainiac.
