The Kardashians

Threatened With Lawsuit

Over Cheap Trick

10/29/2012 5:15 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The Kardashians
have been accused of a cheap cover-up, stealing the name of a high-end make-up line and slapping it on their own drugstore brand ... so claims the dude who sells the fancy products.

Kim, Khloe and Kourtney are launching Khroma Beauty ... a cosmetics line you can get next month at not-so-fancy places like CVS, Sears, and Ulta.

Michael Rey, the co-owner of Chroma Makeup in Bev Hills tells TMZ ... his brand took 12 years of blood, sweat and tears to build and now boasts an A-List clientele -- but he grouses the Kardashians line cheapens his products and creates confusion in the marketplace.

Michael fears his high-end customers will run for other parts of the Hills ... thinking their primo cosmetics are not so primo after all ... and they'll be embarrassed to say they wear Chroma.

Michael says he's hired a legal team, but hasn't made contact with the Kardashians just yet. He hopes they'll change the name -- but if they don't he's prepared to take legal action.

Michael has drafted a letter to his customers making it as clear as concealer -- Chroma in NO WAY is associated with the "low-budget cosmetic products" the Kardashians are hocking.

We reached out to the Kardashians. So far, no word back.

Hopefully if what he is claiming is true that he takes the whole family to the sewer where they belong.

No shock here. They stole their cheap purse designs from high end designers too. All typical of people who have never had an original idea of their own.

Before the Kim twits get their panties in a wad, please remember how the K's sued old Navy for using Melissa Molinaro in a commercial. While this young lady may have resembled Kris Jenner's prize pig, Melissa is a naturally beautiful woman and has talent. Definitely unlike the Kardashian porn ho! No way will I ever spend a dime on anything they peddle!

Why Americans girls support these overindulging, self centered Hookers is BEYOND comprehension

If company A has a longstanding reputation, then company B names its product in such a way that could/ will confuse the consumer: Company A can get an injunction. Whether or not mike has his head up kims a$$ or not.

What this means is: the kartrashians are low rent hucksters who are trying to knock off the good name and will of this cosmetic company and thus profit.

Doesn't this family of diseased saknks have enough money without trying to steal it by muscling in on an existing brad like this?
Just one more reason to hate them - as if I needed another one. Worthless human beings - all of them.

I can't believe that there are people out there who still buy the **** these idiots throw together. I guess it just takes some longer to realize how money hunger they are and they don't care what gets in their way.

He's got a good case against them. Changing a C to a K for a similar product line would absolutely cause confusion, especially when they are pronounced the same.

It's another tacky Kardashian knockoff with a K - he could turn that into a selling point somehow, that Chroma is the original and Khroma is the tacky Kardashian knockoff.

This lawsuit is a joke, first of all these are two totally different name. Khroma Beauty and Chroma Make up, and if their makeup is so high end, which one of their clients will mistake their make up for make up from the Kardashians that will be sold in CVS? this is ridiculous, obviously this man is trying to get his name in the media, because I have NEVER, EVER heard of Chroma Make up. If it is used in Hollywood then I can't see any of his clientelle mistaking their make up for his. The judge will throw this out, just like all of the other suits that people have brought against them in the past. The Kardashians HAVE NEVER settled or paid out on any suit thus far, all have been bogus and tossed out of court, and this one will be also. It is ridiculous. Where is the confusion between these two products? JOKE! oh and to all the haters, I hope none of you live on the east coast in the path of Sandy, you need to be worried about not getting your hateful a**es washed away, Karma is a b*tch and a lot of you miserable b*tches will get wiped out because you are so nasty and hateful. God don't like ugly and he has a way of removing trash permanently, if your only purpose is hate, jealousy and vitriol you will get yours. WATCH

Remember this is not the first time the Kardashians have been accused of stealing names & designs…I remember when the Kardashian Kollection started some big article exposed all of their designs as knock offs, they did photo comparison of all their clothes to the original design clothes and it is jaw dropping how they blatantly took someone’s designs, did some small alterations and slap they name brand on it.
