'Star Wars' Sale

You Be the Judge

11/4/2012 9:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

1102-george-lucas-disney-getty-3_vaderDisney just gobbled up all things George Lucas for the reasonable price of $4 billion -- which includes the "Star Wars" franchise. So we gotta ask ...

Disneyland was never the same after they added johnny depp's character to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and then let tim burton change the Haunted Mansion to some crap he wanted.Allowing tim burton's hands on Disneyland's attractions is sort of like painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa. An absolute disgrace.

if disney is smart, they will pick Ryan Gosling as the new luke.....I think 4 billion for a franchise with iconic characters is cheap...they will make the money back within a decade with new movies and licensing of their products

MEHHH... FACT IS, LUCAS IS GETTING OLD. DUDE HAD TO DUMP THE THING REGARDLESS. BESIDES, THE GUY WILL REMAIN "CONSULTANT" OVER ALL THINGS LUCAS WHICH MEANS HE GETS PAID TONS JUST TO HAVE HIS NAME ATTACHED TO THE CREDITS. HE'S NOW WORTH SOME 8 BILLION BUX. AINT FEELIN SORRY FOR THE GUY... JUST SAYING. #TRUTH!!

After john carter Disney should stay away from all sci-fi movies. Watch they turn the light sabers into pixi sticks with fairy dust flying around.

SAD THING IS ILM - INDUSTRIAL LIGHT AND MAGIC GO WITH THE DEAL. THIS COMPANY IS THE REAL FUTURE MONEY MAKER OF THE LUCAS FRANCHISE. DISNEY HAS THEIR CLAWS INTO THAT SH*T FROM THE GET GO SINCE THEY BOUGHT PIXAR IN 2006 WHOM LUCAS FOUNDED IN 1979. ILM DOES SPECIAL EFFECTS FOR MAJORITY HOLLYWOOD FLICKS AND ALL STEVEN SPIELBERG PRODUCTIONS SINCE INDIANA JONES 30 YRS AGO. SHOULD OF KEPT ILM FOR A FEW MORE YRS AND DOUBLE THE VALUE. BUT THEN WHY PAY MORE TAXES TO THE F*CKING IRS. #TRUTH!!

TMZ have done some really bad polls in the past, but, hands down, this one is the worst... by a mile.

Three things to clarify here::

- On the first question, there should have a 'no loser' option - Disney gets a proven money-maker, and Lucas, 4 billions in cash and stock options... and complete idiots without any clue on the value of money would think otherwise.

- "Star Wars" doesn't need to be save by anyone. Even with the dreadful prequel trilogy, that monster made money up the whazoo. All Disney have to do with it now is not make it as terrible as Episode 1, 2 and 3 were, and there in business. And, now that Lucas is only a 'special consultant' to the series, it will be quite easy to do so.

- There won't be new Luke or Princess Leia. Episode 7 won't be a reboot or remake of the first trilogy, but a continuation of what happen to the Republic, SEVERAL YEARS after "Return of the Jedi". Which means that, if nobody is sleeping at the wheel at Buena Vista, Mark Hamill will come back as Luke. Doubt it when it comes to Carrie Fisher, and completely do not expect Harrison Ford's return, but, for Hamill, I'm about 75% sure he will be in it.

So yeah, basically, terrible, terrible polls, TMZ.

Sadly, the whole Star Wars thing is done. But, anyway, it's and it always will be much better than all the zombies and vampires crap that the kids with low IQ love these days.

Lucas only sold now to avoid the huge obama and obamacare taxes hitting all of us in 2013. He had to do it before the years end to avoid those taxes on the sale.
Smart move. If only we could all do that.

They should have instead acquired the Mad Max franchise. I move that Ben Browder from Farscape play the original Mad Max's son in the series. Lucas Films should have been sold to Apple instead - just think of seeing the Death Star in the shape of a giant Apple.

Most of the star wars fans I know are getting older now, not that it hasn't pulled in a new set of fans though. However, every time Disney has tried to make a movie aimed at people older than say, 8, it's bombed. They always try to keep their movies Rated PG or Pg-13 which means they have to skimp on the stuff that makes movies like these good.

Ehh... not very excited about a 'Star Wars' movie made by Disney. I want my Jedis and Sith to be violent and bloodthirsty, not more Jar Jar-ish.

you know, the more i read these "you be the judge" polls, the more i realize the writers there are very sad, pathetic, most likely middle school drop outs....
