'Liz & Dick'

The Ratings Are In ...

It's No 'Steel Magnolias'

breaking news

The ratings are in -- and Lindsay Lohan's "Liz & Dick" did NOT get the viewers it needed to become Lifetime's most watched TV movie of 2012 ... not even close.

According to Lifetime, L&D drew 3.5 million viewers during its premiere last night -- solid, but not the earth-shattering numbers Lifetime was gunning for with all the buzz around the film.

Lifetime's "Steel Magnolias" -- the most-watched TV movie this year -- attracted 6.5 million.

The numbers make "Liz & Dick" the fourth most-watched Lifetime movie this year behind "Drew Peterson: Untouchable" (with 5.8 million viewers) and "Abducted: The Carlina White Story" (with 4.09 million viewers).

Still, Lifetime says L&D was up 40% versus other Lifetime original movies in 2012.

So, we gotta ask ...

Wow. Low ratings even to see her train wreck? I guess that means that America really does not care anymore! With the amount of advertising and money spent, you would have expected more, even if just to gawk.

Now she wants a sitcom? Hardly. There is nothing funny about her or her situation and we all saw all too clearly what a piss poor actress she is!

Really, she thinks she can do a sitcom? That is a lot of work and a pure NOVICE such as her could never carry a sitcom!

Red Cloud 6 months ago:

And Lindsay is up to the challenge because she is HUNGRY for a comeback AND she has above average talent. Prepare youselves for a big surprise with this movie. It will be her best performance with the very best still to come on the big screen.

Red Cloud today:

She was very strong in some scenes and weak in some, like the reviews I posted here said. Considering that she hasn't acted in a while and this was a TV movie that was finished in twenty two days, she wasn't bad.

Do they have numbers for how many actually watched the whole thing? Or are these numbers of people who accidentally stumbled upon the station and stayed for 2 minutes until they saw how awful it was?

Lifetime moved it out of sweeps period for a reason. They knew it wasn't going to get the ratings they originally thought after they saw the finished product. Think about all the money spent on advertising too... and only 4th place out of LIFETIME movies...let alone other TV movies.

When Lindsay actually starts paying for her crimes (and her taxes) then we know her career is really over (no more special treatment, princess).

And, hey old Hollywood....the hype machine doesn't work anymore. You should have paid more attention to us after her SNL and Glee fiasco's. You can't fool all the people all the time anymore. We don't think someone's a star just because you say so.

Wonder if Liho is going to use this svckfest as an excuse for the next bender she goes on?

The one perk about “Liz & Dick” … Lindsay Lohan can finally say jail is not the worst thing she’s ever been in.

Thanks Sez...this is my favorite. This bears reposting all day and onto any new Lohan stories for the time being.

I can't believe this lush now wants to do a sitcom or a reality show.

What is way worse is that some moron in Hollywood will drop his pants and maybe give it to her.

Lindsay Lohan reportedly 'devastated' by 'Liz & Dick' reviews

By Kat Giantis

A natural disaster swept across America on Sunday night, laying waste to everything in its path. And by "everything," we mean Lindsay Lohan's career comeback, the memory of Elizabeth Taylor, the fine art of acting and the nation's alcohol reserves, which were seriously depleted by the many drinking games inspired by the small-screen catastrophe known as "Liz & Dick."

Now, as the Red Cross hands out coffee to survivors of the Lifetime flick, it seems Lindsay is stunned by the blistering reaction to her performance, which critics called "woeful" and "terrible" (and those were the nice ones).

Bing: Lindsay Lohan on Barbara Walters interview

"Lindsay is devastated by the response to the film," a "close friend" tells the Huffington Post. "She has got used to all the negative press around her personal life, but this is the first time she has experienced it about her work. No matter how bad things were going for her personally, everyone would always agree that she was a great actress."

Then again, the last time she received across-the-board rave reviews was for "The Parent Trap," in which she had a far more believable English accent than in "Liz & Dick," but continuing on ...

"Lindsay has already read her own press," chimes in another source. "She knew the script wasn't strong but thought she would bring the role of Elizabeth to life. This is particularly heartbreaking as her acting was the only thing in her life that she knew was real. Now she is doubting that, too."

And with good reason. "The recreated scene from 'Virginia Woolf' is absurd," dinged the San Francisco Chronicle. "It's as though Burton is trading barbs with a 14-year-old boy in drag." The New York Times was equally harsh, describing Lohan as "oddly passive, sleepwalking through scenes that call for passion and caprice. She can't do Taylor's famously candied voice, and doesn't try."

But Radar Online insists that Lindsay is sticking to her "no regrets" credo by dismissing the haters.

"Lindsay isn't fazed at all by the criticism," maintains a confidant. "She thinks everyone is insanely jealous of her, and like it or not, she was trending on Twitter last night."

What's more, LiLo is supposedly taking advice from -- oy -- Charlie Sheen, who reportedly just bailed her out of a tax jam.

"Lindsay has asked her manager and agent to look into getting her her own television sitcom," an insider tells Radar. "Lindsay feels that the small screen would be a great way for her to revitalize her acting career and that a comedy would be the best bet."

Adds the snitch, "Lindsay feels most comfortable doing comedy, and it was Charlie Sheen that told her she should do it. Charlie told Lindsay that it was an easy way to make very good money and help her to get her movie career back on track. Lindsay is loving the idea of having her own sitcom and would love to play someone in a story based on her crazy life."

The Estonian Times today had the following to say about the Lindsay Lohan Performance in Liz and Dick:

“Not since the memorable performance of two talented girls has there been such a disappointing display of sheer classless, clueless, creepy and contemptible krap in a single cup of what someone thought was entertainment; Lindsay mailed in her role and made it almost laughable. Two Girls and a Cup is a far better piece of stagecraft than this Lohan piece of merde.”

Apparently, Two Girls and a Cup (Google to see it) has reached a far greater audience than will ever see Liz and Dick, sparing millions of potential viewers the horror of what Linds does to the character of Ms. Taylor.

The ET concluded: “Ms. Lohan has taken American Culture to a new and unimaginable low…!”
