'Macho' Camacho

Open Casket Farewell

11/27/2012 11:16 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Hector Macho Camacho funeral open casket photo
Hector "Macho" Camacho
's body is currently on display at a public viewing in Puerto Rico -- three days after the boxing legend's death.

The public viewing is being held at Centro de Recreacion in Santurce. A private mass was held yesterday for family and friends.

According to his rep, Hector's body will be flown to New York City for a private funeral and burial at his mother's request. It's unclear when the private funeral will be held.

As we reported, Camacho passed away on Saturday from injuries he sustained during a drive-by shooting last week.

I'm Puerto Rican and my parents are very old school. I can honestly say no one I know does this, and there are Puerto Ricans that find this disrespectful. Its preference, not culture. I know the elders used to do it back in the day, but its not something all Puerto Ricans do now. Hell, my grandmother thinks its wrong and she's as old school as it gets! Either way, families do it for their own reasons... I'd hate to think making money off them is one reason.

Trying to make sense of it all...

We also saw pictures of the Ford Mustang with the doors open (no noticeable bullet holes on the vehicle) and the driver was laying in the street behind the car.

News sources quotes Dr. Torres as saying: "The bullet apparently struck him in the jaw but exited his head and lodged in his right shoulder and fractured two vertebrae."

The picture above does not show any entry or exit wounds on his face, jaw or head. If the bullet lodged in the right shoulder you would think he was shot on the left side (from the drivers side) and it exited the right side. This picture is showing the right side and no exit (or entry wounds). Hmm

The pictures of him on the gurney had what appeared to be blood on his right side (arms and upper torso area) which would be more logical of the wounds sustained from someone running up to the passenger side and opening fire.

I know none of this changes the fact that he is dead. But was he shot to death that day or did he really go into cardiac arrest and officially (not clinically) die days later?

Sad. Sad. Sad. R.I.P. Hector "Macho" Camacho

In hispanic culture it is a tradition to have an open casket. So of all you ingnorants and biggots, thank you for hurting the mourning family, friends and fans and our culture. Before you make you biggoted insults, check up the culture's background. Hints: His family and him are from hispanic background, very proud Puerto Rican background, yet he grew up and will be burrien in NY!!! But to put soft porn photgraphs on the websites and tv that toddlers and underage children can be exposed to is not an outrage.

I don'tcare if this is a custom in Puerto Rican culture. This is a website based in the continental US where it is not the custum to publish photos of corpses in caskets, hence the many posters who are objecting to it. The argument that there are more offensive things on the web is utterly specious. There are videos out there of people blowing their brains out for those that choose to view such things. The fact that the vast majority of people would find those more offensive than videos of a dogs getting their brains blown out does not make it OK to randomly place the latter on sites where people would not have a reasonable expectation of seeing them. This is a celebrity gossip site, not gore.com. Folks don't come here to see photographs of dead or dying individuals and TMZ grossly disrespects it's audience when it posts pictures of this nature with no cut or warning of any kind.

Wow, we have some righteous people here talking **** of the dead, ya don't have to like him but at least have respect for his mom, his kids that has a lot of love and respect for him, like his mom said many may have not liked him but he was a great son, was always there for her, unfortunately his time ran out, this **** had nothing to do with drugs, this will happen to anyone living in PR on drugs and not on drugs, living in the states he will still be alive today, R.I.P Camacho you will never be forgotten.
