Australian DJs

We're SUSPENDING OURSELVES

Due to Suicide

The two Australian DJs behind the Kate Middleton hospital prank that may have led to the suicide of a nurse have decided to REMOVE themselves from the airwaves.

Southern Cross Austereo, the company that owns the station, has released a statement ... saying, "SCA and 2Day FM are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the death of nurse Jacintha Saldanha from King Edward VII’s Hospital."

SCA says the CEO has spoken with both of the DJs ... who are both "deeply shocked" over the tragedy.

The company adds, "SCA and the hosts have decided that they will not return to their radio show until further notice out of respect for what can only be described as a tragedy."

Interesting that SCA did NOT pull the DJs off the air immediately following the prank ... but instead waited until the backlash after Saldanha's suicide.

This is one reason I don't like entertainment shows pulling practical jokes on the public-at-large. Anything can happen when you screw with the natural course of things.

That stupid ABC show is great example. (What would you do?)

Why?I feel bad that the woman killed herself, but it really is not their fault......it was a joke. The woman was obviously mentally unstable.

I'm sorry but this was a prank. Nothing more and nothing less. There is a reason why hospitals should not give information over the phone and this is a prime example why celebrities and VIPs should never be an exception simply because of their status. Prank calls are very common, especially from radio stations. Let's not make villains out of these two for a simple phone call. The nurse must have already been mentally unstable and her suicide was her own mentally clouded decision. It would appear that she isn't even the one who passed out the information and the second nurse didn't run out and kill herself. Unfortunate and sad? Yes! Who is to blame? No one! Blame mental illness!

This girl was obviously unbalanced, which is not the DJ's fault. But what they did was an invasion of privacy and in poor taste.

Again the station didnt pull djs off air because they including their lawyers approved the airing of this prank. Ads were put together promoting the stunt. The djs apparent regret causing them to leave the air for some time has saved this station alot of grief. Or could it be says my doubting mind, they have been paid to take a sabbatical. Cheaper to pay off djs than to lose all your sponsors.

What they did was simple a joke. The fact that this nurse committed suicide is the fault of her own. They shouldn't step down over a prank. It was not intended for the woman to kill herself, nor does any sane person kill themselves because of a harmless prank. The British take the Royals extremely seriously and it truly needs to stop.

CMON... IT'S OBVIOUS THE NURSE CHIC HAD MENTAL ISSUES PRIOR TO THE SUICIDE AND THIS WAS JUST THE TRIGGER THAT SET THE MENTAL PATIENT OFF... LOOK, HOWARD STERN & CO. USED TO DO TONS OF TELEPHONE PRANKS OVER A FEW DECADES AND NONE OF STERN'S TEAM OR THEIR MORONIC VICTIMS KILLED THEMSELVES. STERN'S CALLS WERE 10x WORSE! #TRUTH!!

It's not just the radio station. The way the nurse was berated in the press was disgusting. At the end of the day she was a normal working woman in an abnormal conversation. If you listen to the audio you can hear her alittle excited thinking it was the queen. There is a show in England called Loose Women. Like the view these women get paid to sit behind a desk, running their mouths. I watched them belittle and berate that nurse and it made me so angry. Now she dead I'm sickened by them. Those women are just as guilty as the prank if not more. U can laugh off a prank call it was the way she was berated that made her kill herself. Those women make me sick and should get off their fat asses and do a real days work for a change.
