8:30 AM PT -- Law enforcement sources tell us ... cops are NOT planning on conducting a criminal investigation into the death at this point ... and believe there was no foul play.

We're told a post-mortem examination (autopsy) is currently being scheduled and is expected to be conducted in the next few days.

Meanwhile, Kate and William's rep has issued a statement on behalf of the royals saying they are "deeply saddened" by the news ... adding, "Their thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha’s family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time."

A nurse at the hospital where Kate Middleton was treated for morning sickness this week has been found dead ... and suicide is suspected -- after she mistakenly transferred a prank radio call to Kate's hospital room.

According to law enforcement, the woman was found dead at an address near King Edward VII hospital, where she worked, around 9:30 AM this morning.

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene but were unable to revive her. Scotland Yard is treating the death as a possible suicide.

The woman -- a nurse identified as Jacintha Saldanha -- was the victim of a prank by an Australian radio station, which called King Edward VII hospital on Wednesday pretending to be the Queen of England (with a terrible accent) and asking to speak to Kate.

The nurse immediately transferred the call to Kate's room, where another nurse then nervously explained Kate's condition over the phone. The call was broadcast all over the planet.

The radio station issued an apology just hours after the prank aired, saying, "We were very surprised that our call was put through. We thought we'd be hung up on as soon as they heard our terrible accents. We’re very sorry if we’ve caused any issues and we’re glad to hear that Kate is doing well."

Kate was released from the hospital yesterday.

At the end of the day, this was a prank. The British take the Royals too seriously and it's honestly sickening and needs to stop. She probably killed herself over them, over embarrassment. This is not the fault of the DJs though. It was a harmless prank and should be seen as such. Sad that she took her life but no one is to blame but her. I hope no one tries to deflect the situation and criminalize the DJs because that's simply not right.

CMON... IT'S OBVIOUS THE NURSE CHIC HAD MENTAL ISSUES PRIOR TO THE SUICIDE AND THIS WAS JUST THE TRIGGER THAT SET THE MENTAL PATIENT OFF... LOOK, HOWARD STERN & CO. USED TO DO TONS OF TELEPHONE PRANKS OVER A FEW DECADES AND NONE OF STERN'S TEAM OR THEIR MORONIC VICTIMS KILLED THEMSELVES. STERN'S CALLS WERE 10x WORSE! #TRUTH!!

Smelly cover up here. Hospital Admin wishes to save face and reserves for the Royal Suite (including the pending birth), maintaining a standing relationship with Buckingham Palace. Phone lines were possibly hacked by Australian syndicates that should have otherwise been locked down. Someone now has pie on their face. The nurse had apparently been a 4yr employee and would have been no stranger to the Royal Fam, especially if she was privy to the Royal Wing of the hospital. The breach in phone security causes a heinous rift between Hospital and Palace resulting in a dead woman 2 days later a block from the hospital. Shady goods. Was she attempting to arrive or leave St. James at the moment of her collapse? Nurses have access to drugs as drugs have access to nurses. The fact there is no criminal investigation is a crime unto itself. They better ask somebody...

I agree that the nurse must have had problems in the first place, but maybe the phone call just tipped her over the edge.
Hospital officials have stated that she was neither reprimanded or sacked. In addition, the public were not crying out for blood, but understood that mistakes simply happen.
She has two kids and they must be suffering terribly.
When will the media take responsibility for things like this? They have no boundaries and can hurt or offend without conscience or remorse. For example, why has TMZ got an autopsy report on its front page?

People don't commit suicide because of one bad day at work, it's not that easy of a decision to come to, who knows what was going through the nurses mind prior to this incident. Besides the fact that it's very odd they gave information without any hesitation. Quite frankly, I don't think the DJ's should be punished for a prank that there was no way ANYONE would think could've possibly worked.

My first thought was suicided probably for the embarrassment of breach of security? No investigation? How convenient. Snuffed out for answering a phone call. Nice.

Don't get me wrong it is really a "sad" and "tragic" thing that this nurse killed herself... but this is becoming a common theme on radio stations now to prank call people and honestly I don't see an issue with this prank call. I am sorry, but if you work in a hospital and you're a receptionist there should be proper protocol which you follow in order to validate the authentication of the person you're speaking to before you transfer them over to a personal nurse, where "private" information is being disclosed. (i still don't understand how saying someone is sleeping and doing better is private info) ....This is NOT the fault of the DJ's, they did not PRESSURE OR FORCE HER INTO GIVING THEM THE INFORMATION. They simply asked with a bad accent and got told the information. An example of a "bad" prank gone too far is telling defaming information about someone and it going viral. Whether at school, work, city wide or globally.

Wait a minute, th deceased nurse didnt even give out the health info, she didnt violate their country's HIPPA law, all she did was transfer the call, yet she killed herself over this? Huh? She thought there was no other way out of this situation? Ive never seen a nurse lose their job or license over transferring a call...the nurse who gave out health info regarding Kate Middletons status was the wrong one here. Every health care professional knows do NOT give out info, especially over the phone where the callers identity cannot be verified! In dealing with a VIP ie the family that runs that country, why not ve EXTRA cautious??? Wow. This is crazy. There is something more going on here in that nurses life - maybe mental health issues, possibly substance abuse or family issues.

Really sad . . . but the DJs never actually got to talk to Kate, so I don't see the big deal . . .

As a nurse, I am trying to rationalize this case. All i can think of is that perhaps the deceased nurse was diverting medication from that hospital and thought this investigation into the prank call that she transferred would leave to its discovery? I wouldnt be surprised if drugs and/or alcohol are found in the nurse during the autopsy. This just doesnt make sense with this information alone. The nurse who gave out health care info regarding Kates condition and who even confirmed she was there in the first place is in the wrong. Hospitals do so much briefing on HIPAA laws and when a VIP comes, no doubt the hospital briefs their employees again to prevent mishaps like this. At what point does the hospital itself accept some responsibility here? Like if the Duchess was a patient, why didnt they have all phone lines closed! The Royals dont have to call the hospital to find out how Kate is, come on. This is so strange and there is more to it.

Now every is going to put all the blame on the DJs. People need to take a step back and realize the world needs to stop worshiping William and Kate.

The Monarchy is a sham people. Quit feeding into it.

As sad as it is that she killed herself, the radio station should not be held accountable. There is never an excuse to take your own life
