Hospital Nurse Found Dead After Radio Prank ... Suicide Suspected

Exclusive Details

8:30 AM PT -- Law enforcement sources tell us ... cops are NOT planning on conducting a criminal investigation into the death at this point ... and believe there was no foul play.

We're told a post-mortem examination (autopsy) is currently being scheduled and is expected to be conducted in the next few days.

Meanwhile, Kate and William's rep has issued a statement on behalf of the royals saying they are "deeply saddened" by the news ... adding, "Their thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha’s family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time."

A nurse at the hospital where Kate Middleton was treated for morning sickness this week has been found dead ... and suicide is suspected -- after she mistakenly transferred a prank radio call to Kate's hospital room.

According to law enforcement, the woman was found dead at an address near King Edward VII hospital, where she worked, around 9:30 AM this morning.

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene but were unable to revive her. Scotland Yard is treating the death as a possible suicide.

The woman -- a nurse identified as Jacintha Saldanha -- was the victim of a prank by an Australian radio station, which called King Edward VII hospital on Wednesday pretending to be the Queen of England (with a terrible accent) and asking to speak to Kate.

The nurse immediately transferred the call to Kate's room, where another nurse then nervously explained Kate's condition over the phone. The call was broadcast all over the planet.

The radio station issued an apology just hours after the prank aired, saying, "We were very surprised that our call was put through. We thought we'd be hung up on as soon as they heard our terrible accents. We’re very sorry if we’ve caused any issues and we’re glad to hear that Kate is doing well."

Kate was released from the hospital yesterday.

Being hospitalized for "morining sickness" give me a break! Kates in the hospital because she is pregnant and obviously she dosent Eat! I'm sure the "royals" made a huge deal over her pregnancy coming out which caused a life! I have no respect for Kate or William their poor excuses for people better yet "royals!" The only "royal" I have hope and respect for is Harry!

Surfer Gal

It was 5:30 AM when the call was put through to Kate Middleton's room! She was probably (finally) sleeping. She was facing a very serious medical condition & possibly could have miscarried. And just not any old fetus, this fetus will be the future king or queen of the United Kingdom, if things continue as they are.

This woman was not a phone clerk. She was a nurse, and just filling in. She possibly had never been trained. And, my cousin in a nurse in a London hospital. There system is antiquated compared to what we are used to in the United States. They don't have private lines to the rooms. And what if it had been the Queen & she had NOT put the call through? What a delicate position she was in. Also, the English are much more polite than we are in the U.S. I have asked for something that was politely given, that would never have been given in the U.S. Those DJs took advantage of a woman who was trying to tread a fine line. And of course, we have been hearing that Kate might have this condition for awhile now, even possibly until the end of her pregnancy. The hospital would have come down hard on this poor nurse to make sure this mistake did not happen again. It was rife was so many things going wrong that I cannot imagine why the radio station's attorney ever gave the go ahead on this very poorly thought out prank. And with all the world's media camped out at the hospital's door, desperate for the slightest story to run, when absolutely nothing was happening for days, they simply beat this story to death. And now the poor nurse is dead.

They must not have realized that humiliating someone worldwide could have some trauma on their life, but the radio station said they're sorry, so it's okay.

This comes as no suprise. I knew it wouldn't be long before the story blossmed of an "apparent suicide". That poor lady was obviously asassinated by their corrupt govt for jeopordizing the dutchess safety. The CEO of the hospital said they were supporting the nurse so her career wasn't lost ovr the mishap

Diamond Goddess!

Look, this "shock jock" thing is beyond tired!
The Howard Stern/Sirius deal is an EPIC fail, just for one example. (Sirius stock is like $1 a share.)
These people have about 1% talent.
Good riddance to tired rubbish.
Too bad things got this extreme.

I doubt the Queen or any royals would EVER have to call a hospital receptionist. They have cell phones & a buttload of direct contact resources on call. Stupid prank gone wrong with tragic results.

This young nurse was likely berated and bullied by her peers and the press. You know don't know what she went through. RIP

I blame the media for making this a bigger deal than what it was, isnt there more important things to focus on in this world, starvation, war, abuse, are you kidding me. Think about it was it really that big a deal that princess Kate got phone tapped.

Wow. What a couple of morons. Nothing funny about it, yet they seemed so proud of themselves. Whether or not it warranted a woman committing suicide, the fact is she did...and that probably played some small role in it. That "little prank" will haunt them for the rest of their lives.

Horrible. But I'm not surprised. Classless, Clueless and cultureless Aussies at it again. Even the dirtiest and lowest of the UK look down upon them.
