Hospital Nurse Found Dead After Radio Prank ... Suicide Suspected

Exclusive Details

8:30 AM PT -- Law enforcement sources tell us ... cops are NOT planning on conducting a criminal investigation into the death at this point ... and believe there was no foul play.

We're told a post-mortem examination (autopsy) is currently being scheduled and is expected to be conducted in the next few days.

Meanwhile, Kate and William's rep has issued a statement on behalf of the royals saying they are "deeply saddened" by the news ... adding, "Their thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha’s family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time."

A nurse at the hospital where Kate Middleton was treated for morning sickness this week has been found dead ... and suicide is suspected -- after she mistakenly transferred a prank radio call to Kate's hospital room.

According to law enforcement, the woman was found dead at an address near King Edward VII hospital, where she worked, around 9:30 AM this morning.

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene but were unable to revive her. Scotland Yard is treating the death as a possible suicide.

The woman -- a nurse identified as Jacintha Saldanha -- was the victim of a prank by an Australian radio station, which called King Edward VII hospital on Wednesday pretending to be the Queen of England (with a terrible accent) and asking to speak to Kate.

The nurse immediately transferred the call to Kate's room, where another nurse then nervously explained Kate's condition over the phone. The call was broadcast all over the planet.

The radio station issued an apology just hours after the prank aired, saying, "We were very surprised that our call was put through. We thought we'd be hung up on as soon as they heard our terrible accents. We’re very sorry if we’ve caused any issues and we’re glad to hear that Kate is doing well."

Kate was released from the hospital yesterday.

The receptionist probably got a lot s*** from coworkers, friends, etc. But she must have had other problems that left her unable to deal with this prank.

This story just sickens me. That poor, poor woman. I was also thinking about William and what this has done to him. This is the exact thing that dogged and ended up killing his mother. I can't imagine what he is feeling. How awful that this woman killed herself and that they can't enjoy the miracle of that first pregnancy line two people should. I feel terrible for all of them.

This is the second tragedy with the Royal family! First Diana, now this. I would not want to be associated with these people! It is such ashamed, those radio personalities need to be fired! I hope the family of the this nurse sues radio station for millions!

How sad. I'm sure the royal family really raised hell over her error resulting inhering fired. IT WAS JUST A JOKE. The way the Royals treat people is horrendous. You take people's hard earned money and parade around like you are special. You have no power, no sense of worth, just gold diggers. Waving is not a career choice. If people had the stones to say to the Duchess, eat or you will harm yourself and your baby. It's not that hard to understand. Food ensures nutrition and growth, lack of it, you end up in a hospital. They all say she is healthy. Weighing 96 lbs and trying to grow a healthy baby won't work. We don't need a doctor for that. The Duchess should know better beings she is educated.

Shame on those DJs. Not that the nurse's decision was the best but she did not deserve the aftermath that ensued. Public humiliation across the world, who wouldn't have an issue?

SHAME on all adults who think this was a great prank. This individual had kids, husband and a family. As a nurse I am really appalled at the cause of their actions. This radio station should reconsider them as DJs because this is bullying.

Seriously, TMZ, in light of this suicide, couldn't you NOT play this recording?

Ok sorry for sounding heartless but I simply cannot even question the dead woman's motive because I am sitting here asking myself WHY would someone be admitted to the hospital over morning sickness??? Im 21 weeks into my 6th pregnancy and that just isn't heard of.

I hope you're still sorry! Now, you'll have to live with the thought that your prank cost a life. Silly bunch.
