Kate Middleton Nurse Suicide

Lexus Pulls Ads from Radio

Station Behind the Prank

12/8/2012 12:16 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Lexus Australia
has axed all of their advertising from 2DAYFM ... the radio station that allowed two DJs to prank call Kate Middleton's hospital ... TMZ has learned.

TMZ spoke to a rep for Lexus AU ... who tells us the company has officially pulled the plug on their media campaign due to "the current situation" -- specifically the suspected suicide of the nurse who answered the call.

We're told this isn't the first time Lexus AU has pulled ads from 2DAYFM. The car company pulled ads from the station last year as well following an incident with a different announcer.

This recent ad campaign (which began November 1) was the company's first with the station since then.

The hospital can say they did not do anything but anyone who works in healthcare know breach of privacy is automatic termination.

Just to say: This nurse only passed the call onto another nurse. She really did nothing wrong. The one who gave the information on Kate should have done the vetting to make sure they were talking to the real people. So for the first nurse to commit suicide over passing a phone call to another station, it just doesn't make sense. something more has to be there to it. THAT BEING SAID... this is a HOSPITAL. There are sick people with worried families trying to call in to check on their loved ones. There are sick people calling the number to get advice on what they should do about being sick. (come to the hospital, take a medication, etc). doctors call the number to talk to the on call doctors about their patients... the 3 places you just don't prank are Hospitals, Police and Fire departments. You're putting lives at risk by tying up the lines, and harassing sick people and people working in highly stressful jobs. The joke wasn't funny, and should never have been done. I have no sympathy for whatever punishment the DJs receive... although I do think it's overboard saying they're the direct cause of the suicide. It may have been the last straw in a lot of triggers... but I'm sure they didn't foresee a potential suicide.

Like I said you wouldn't put the Queen on hold just to check there should have been a palace official their

There was a time where I worried Britney Spears might commit suicide. Remember how the paps hounded her - and TMZ should have been renamed The Britney Show - they did all this knowing she was having severe mental issues. If Britney had killed herself, everyone would be up in arms about how it was the Paps' fault and TMZ and other news agencies. But she didn't, so we don't care. Most people who are all up in arms upset blaming the DJs for this woman's suicide are HYPOCRITES! Same as many of us would have been had Britney committed suicide. We don't care about humilating another human being for entertainment. Sad, but true.

Wondering like @Uk said. Why no official around to field something like that? Similar to how Harry naked photos were able to be taken even with officials around to take care of those things.....maybe officials not doing their jobs again?

See the Royal Palace is pulling strings to make the wrong people pay.

Don't think the palace did it deliberately. Somehow I think it was an error on both parts but on the other hand the prank should not have been done in the first place !

What the radio announcers did bye pulling the prank wasn't great, but they aren't responsible for the nurse's death. She must have had other things on her mind. Who would kill themselves because someone tricked them on the phone. It is sad she chose to end her life, but the announcers shouldn't be held responsible.

She may well have had other things going on in her life which ever way you look at it though this prank pushed her to the limit for all we know she might have found help had this not happened. I'm sure more things will come to surface

I think the prank call was stupid BUT the nurse's reaction was extreme. Sounds like she had some issues prior to the call. Since these type of pranks have been a staple of deejays for a long time, I think putting all the blame on them is unfair.

This is the first time I have ever heard of a HOSPITAL being pranked next it will be the police and fire services we all teach our children don't ring emergency numbers because people who NEED them can't get through how do we know there weren't any other casualties because of this PRANK gr8 example to set to the younger generation and I wonder how many PRANK calls are going to be imitated
