May Have Triggered Suicide

The nurse in the Kate Middleton hoax may have hanged herself in part because the hospital came down on her hard ... this according to a new report.

The Daily Mail claims to have a source connected to the nurse's family, who says in one of the suicide notes the woman, Jacintha Saldanha, is critical of the hospital for the treatment she received.  The story does not flesh out whether the treatment is connected to the hoax, but it appears to be the case, given one of the other suicide notes which reportedly describes how she tried to cope with the fallout due to the prank call.

So the question ... did hospital management come down on the nurse hard?  A hospital spokesperson claims hospital management was supportive, but they are not privy to what she wrote in the notes.

As for the third note, the report claims the nurse laid out plans for her funeral.

Sounds to me like the hospital is way more responsible for her suicide than the radio station, who barely talked to her for more than 5 seconds...

Wow! So she could deal with leaving her kids without a mother but couldn't deal with being reprimanded and humiliated over a stupid prank call.

She didnt need 2 be on the floor if she thinks QEII of Buckingham Palace is calling her DIRECTLY to whatever desk or room she's at.

That clearly makes sense...and it holds true to my previous statements about the emotional capacity of Asians when dealing with personal embarrassment...Whether is cultural or genetic...they do not deal with any level of humiliation.

i believe that the hospital was at fault for what happened to this poor girl.. i bet they either fired her or were told to fire her.. and this was a huge shame on her and her family.. to lose a job.. over a prank that she fell for..and i bet her family also had a huge part in it.. as well.. coming from India and all.

To all the people who kept saying she probably had other deep seeded issues trying to talk like psychiatrists, told you she probably didn't. She got heckled to death. British people will do that. They talk about Americans being a certain way, but they will ridicule a person over something like what happened with her.

Clearly, this woman was fragile and unstable. She, no one else, decided her two teenaged children no longer needed a mother.

Hell if we're passing around blame, how about blaming the media that took this story and ran with it. Or the mean trolls on line saying awful things and further building on the momentum of the original prank. Or the mean colleagues who teased her. And heck let's blame the family members for ignoring the signs and not providing her with the support she needed through this ordeal (OK, I'm not totally serious about the family. Just making a point about the number of people that could be at fault.)

It was a combination of things completely out of her control. Awful. I sympathize with her but ultimately the CHOICE to take her life was her own.

Any blame must begin with the DJ's who started the chain of events. It is clearly a foreseeable consequence that the nurse might lose her job and that some people find the loose of a career as a major stressor. You can't throw a rock at someone and then claim you didn't realize it would hurt.
