Instagram is in full damage control mode ... with company's co-founder firing off an emergency statement SWEARING the company has no plans to sell its user's photos.

The statement is a desperate attempt to quell concerns after the company released a new terms of service agreement to users yesterday which says "a business or other entity may pay us to display your username, likeness, photos (along with any associated metadata), and/or actions you take, in connection with paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you."

After several famous and non-famous users vowed to stop using Instagram, co-founder Kevin Systrom released a statement saying, "It is our mistake that this language is confusing. To be clear: it is not our intention to sell your photos."

Systrom continues, "[The new terms of service] was interpreted by many that we were going to sell your photos to others without any compensation. This is not true."

He adds, "Instagram users own their content and Instagram does not claim any ownership rights over your photos. Nothing about this has changed. We respect that there are creative artists and hobbyists alike that pour their heart into creating beautiful photos, and we respect that your photos are your photos. Period."

"I always want you to feel comfortable sharing your photos on Instagram and we will always work hard to foster and respect our community and go out of our way to support its rights."

Systrom says more updates will be coming soon.

Ok so Instagram has changed its terms of service and everyone freaked out.

So the company sent out a letter stating that there intentions are not to sell your photos, um ding ding ding RED FLAG!

People read the letter again look closer “intentions” this is a little shady to me, think about it Instagram is a company there soul reason for creating there craft is to gain business or money if you will.

The fact that they state there “intentions” is not to sell your content well that right there is B.S. yes as of right now they might not want to sell your content or so they state, but how about 2 months from now or 2 years from now?

Clearly this is a form of legal talk to save there behinds in the coming days.

The fact is if you read the letter over again it is basically saying yes the photo belongs to you but we can give you (say 5 bucks) for using your photo and keep thousands from the profit of using the content in adds don’t you see there a middle man !

People wake up do not believe what you are told, this is just another con into making money from nothing. In other words you do all the work in return they give you a small amount of money and sell your work without you even realizing it and because you agreed to the terms it is all legal!

You are all sheep …. Baahhhh Baahhhh Baahhhh !

Glad i never used there service and never will !

Don't believe a word of it unless they actually change the terms of service agreement. As it stands now they can use or sell your images without your consent despite what he says.

They say their "intensions" are not to sell your photos. But if someone was to OFFER cash, you better believe they'll take it and keep it all!

All Social Media sites have the same terms and conditions, this is nothing new. Even Facebook has the right to use all photos and images Pictures you post on their site. That is the price you pay for using their free site.

Right... like Facebook does not forced people to use real names or verify with real phone numbers... if I believe Instagram I would believe a salesman selling me icebox in north pole.

People who are smart enough to care about this wouldn't post photos to begin with. And most of the people are to dumb to understand what this means, same with FB they will post anyways, not to mention they take the info from your photos and do god knows what with it.
