Bragged About Writing 'Die Young' Lyrics Before Massacre

12/19/2012 11:55 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Ke$ha is either lying now ... or was lying then ... 'cause weeks before she said she was "forced" to sing the lyrics to "Die Young," she BRAGGED about penning the song during a radio interview.

The singer appeared on 95.5 WPLJ in New York back in November -- weeks before the Newtown massacre -- and took full credit for writing the song, saying:

"I definitely make sure that every word rings true to me because I would never want to misrepresent myself to millions of people around the world ... I wrote and rewrote and rewrote that song ten times."

Shocking, considering Ke$ha completely contradicted herself on Twitter yesterday after several radio stations around the country stopped playing the song in light of the Newtown tragedy. Ke$ha had written, "I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO."

The lyrics to "Die Young" include the line:  "Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young.  We're gonna die young.  We're gonna die young."

So, what's the truth? We reached out to Ke$ha -- but haven't heard back.

As for her tweets regarding "Die Young" -- those have since been deleted.

Does anyone even listen to her crappy music?

Hopefully this girl's career is over. And I'm not saying this because of this song. I'm saying this because she's a horrible song. Her voice is irritating. I don't know how her career has lasted this long.

I freakin love Ke$ha, for those of you who think she can't sing go ahead look up her on YouTube singing dead flowers. As for this song, i like it, do i think she meant anything by it in reference to going out and murdering children absolutely not. This is the whole Marylin Manson and columbine thing all over again. If we keep blaming social media for the crimes people commit then we are going to end up being censored up the ass!

This is such a non-story that it's almost funny. The song isn't about killing anyone or about actually dying, but living in the moment. "Let's make the most of tonight like we're gonna die young..." What's next? Should we hound Tim McGraw and accuse him of foreshadowing future violence through his song, "Live Like You Were Dying?" How about something positive or funny or enlightening or entertaining, instead of faux controversies that only lower the collective IQ?

Who the hell called her music art???? It's total **** but besides that point she is a tragedy whore for trying to make herself relevant with this tragedy... Simple business.. banning a song create's demand no matter how ****ty the artist or album example Charles Manson and the white album (I like the Beatles but the white album was horrible)

It shouldn't even matter. The song doesn't have anything to do with the tragedy. It wasn't written after the shooting for the shooting. It's no different than any song about living like you are dying or saying live each day like it's your last. I can understand if the people affected by this tragedy don't want to hear the song but all that requires is changing the radio station.

This is seriously so DUMB!

Making the most of a night like you don't have a tomorrow is in no way connected to the school shooting -- or killing someone and dying young.

She's simply saying, "Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young."

BIG FRIGGIN DEAL - in that case, ban every rap song that talks about shooting em' up and gunning them down. GET A GRIP. If you want to BAN something, BAN SEMI-AUTOMATIC ASSAULT RIFLES AND AMMUNITION. THERE'S A START.

It's really sad that this happened! My heart goes out to every single victim and their families. Where do we draw the line with the blame game? When is the suspect held accountable for their actions? Tragedies happen all the time. We can't blame the media. It starts with self control, parenting, nurturing and recognizing when someone is a bit off. We as a society turn the blind eye even when we suspect something is up with that weird neighbor or bullied child in school. So do we start blaming everyone? Do we start guilt tripping people in the public eye? How about we focus on healing and preventing! Shame on you TMZ!

Must really be a slow news day to try and make this a story. No correlation between the song and the event. How does Billy Joel feel about "only the good die young?" That question is almost as dumb as the current story.

She should have just issued a statement that the song had no connection to the tragedy as it was written long before, but understood people's sensitives at this difficult time.
