Ke$ha

Bragged About Writing 'Die Young' Lyrics Before Massacre

12/19/2012 11:55 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Ke$ha is either lying now ... or was lying then ... 'cause weeks before she said she was "forced" to sing the lyrics to "Die Young," she BRAGGED about penning the song during a radio interview.

The singer appeared on 95.5 WPLJ in New York back in November -- weeks before the Newtown massacre -- and took full credit for writing the song, saying:

"I definitely make sure that every word rings true to me because I would never want to misrepresent myself to millions of people around the world ... I wrote and rewrote and rewrote that song ten times."

Shocking, considering Ke$ha completely contradicted herself on Twitter yesterday after several radio stations around the country stopped playing the song in light of the Newtown tragedy. Ke$ha had written, "I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO."

The lyrics to "Die Young" include the line:  "Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young.  We're gonna die young.  We're gonna die young."

So, what's the truth? We reached out to Ke$ha -- but haven't heard back.

As for her tweets regarding "Die Young" -- those have since been deleted.

People are always happy to claim credit if they think it gives them positive publicity. As soon as something is connected to a tragedy, suddenly, they had nothing to do with it.

The only thing wrong with this song is the "timing"of its release.

TMZ, why do you think it makes sense to send to trial the lyrics of a song written ages ago that are only vaguely applicable to the actions of a madman? Why was the song fine two weeks ago? Why would it be fine in a month? The media is obsessed with stealing tragedy from victims and turning it into any desperate attempt at creating a story. Ke$ha is wrong for trying to dodge media attacks but you're in the right exploiting a tragedy in the most convoluted way possible? In general people need to leave this subject alone. Obsessing about it doesn't help the victims, their families, the general public or anyone else. Anyone, except for shady news outlets. Btw folks these criticisms coming from a site that was making punny zingers about Casey Anthony murdering her daughter last week. Don't you people have any problem being a part of the problem?...or at least understand the concept of hypocrisy?

Where are the apologies from all the artists who write lyrics about having broken hearts? Aren't their lyrics a little insensitive to people who have pacemakers?

Are you f'ing kidding me, TMZ goons?! 1) I don't see any reason why this song was even pulled. It's not insensitive because she's saying Live as if you're going to die young. Make the most of each day. 2) You guys at TMZ get raging boners off of ruining peoples careers. And now you're hitting up Judd Appatow's (sp?) new film because he references playing guns with his kids?! YOU ALL NEED LIVES!!!!!! Spread the word.

It's such a massive stretch to connect these two things together that the story seems like an insult to the reader.

The song is about making the most of the present.

Are people really this stupid and is this what passes for news now? If so, we should erase all mention of Afghanistan and Iraq in the news since they cover people getting shot which seems awfully insensitive in light of this. Or maybe they're unrelated, I can't tell.

Her song had nothing to do with little children dying young, so pulling her song from the air is an overreaction. The same goes for the films that were put off, & anything else like it.

Trying to hide everything is not going to bring anyone back ! People should be working to get that assault rifle ban back on the books !!

No one wants to take anyone's right to have a handgun or hunting rifle !! There is just no point in civilians having arms that should only be in the hands of the Military !

Attacking music, films, books, & video games is just an excuse for an evil person not taking responsibility for their actions !

There's a big difference between writing and singing. Maybe she wrote the song without intending to sing it herself? You're making this girl defend herself for no reason. This isn't even a story.

It's a f'n pop song! If anyone links these lyrics to the tragedy...it is absurd.
