Sandy Hook Massacre

CT Attorney Blames State

Wants to Sue for $100 Mil

A Connecticut attorney blames the state for the brutal massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary -- claiming it FAILED to protect the children from harm's way -- and now he wants to sue for $100 million on behalf of one on the survivors.

According to the Hartford Courant, Irving Pinsky filed legal docs Thursday with the Claims Commissioner, asking permission to sue the state on behalf of a 6-year-old Sandy Hook student who survived the shootings (she was in another classroom at the time).

Pinsky claims the girl, only ID'd as "Jill Doe," suffered emotional and psychological trauma ... this according to local reports.

Pinsky believes the shooting was foreseeable, claiming a "fellow like Adam Lanza would have been known as a potential problem to the police."

The state is immune from most lawsuits, which is why Pinsky must ask for permission to even file the suit. No decision has been made whether or not the suit will go through.

Ya had to know that once the crying stopped the lawsuits would start, it's the American way. I guess people will be wanting their kids to go to school in a fortress will armed guards standing in turrets around the facility. Maybe it's time for state and local govts to decide to shut down public schools and let the parents pay for a private education at the place of their choice.

I knew it was a matter of time and I dreaded to read it... I find it so disgusting that people live in this litiguous society where they have to profit off something horrendous. The school couldnt have been more secure.. I am sure they always considered the fact that a crazed gunman would shoot his way in and shoot kids.. I mean gee it happens every day here in Fairfield County, CT. Sometimes, things happen that are no one's fault.. an Act of God, this one being a unbearable one. I really get angered when I hear people say that the school's security was so so.... Really??? How so... I have an idea... Let's send all our childern to school in uniforms with pink and blue bullet proof vest. The schools will be built underground in a bunker.

So if a survivor should get $100M in damages what do the parents who lost their children deserve? $100 BILLION each? This is ridiculous.
The state isn't to blame but any court award should be split among ALL the victims...starting with those whose kids DIDN'T survive receiving the most money. I hope the girl's parents don't take the lawyer up on his "offer".

Wonder This

I've never been in this position, but I can only imagine this little girl's trauma and emotional state, and the damage she has to live with for the rest of her life. Is it worth dragging her through a court proceeding? Is it worth rehashing everything and stressing a state, already completely devastated even more? I'm sorry but I don't think ANY amount of money is going to make this little girl feel better, or make this whole thing justified so for me, this is very selfish of them. Maybe they are doing it for their own personal reasons, maybe their reasons are justifiable but, in my eyes it's purely selfishness and all they saw was dollar signs. This is the last thing this little girl or ANYONE connected to this tragedy needs, regardless of if the state was wrong or not. Now you're trying to take $100 million dollars away, that they could very well USE to protect the children.

Ridiculous lawsuit, but then again, most of them are anyway. Just another example of an Ambulance chaser looking for the big score. That's the quickest way to get rich in America.. SUE somebody.

Sincerity

I can't imagine this frivolous lawsuit going "ANYWHERE"!!! Adam Lanza didn't seem to be on local law enforcement's radar because he had not committed any crimes, especially against children. If being unusually "SHY" was a crime, the vast majority of people would be prosecuted from time to time. This "LEECH" is trying to make a name for himself at the expense of an extremely traumatized community and it's victims. Suing the Lanza's makes much more sense but, of course, they lack the "DEEP POCKET" of a state government. GREED is written all over this lawsuit!!!
