Katherine Webb

ESPN Should NOT Have

Apologized for Ogling

1/9/2013 8:20 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Katherine Webb -- the GF of Alabama star QB A.J. McCarron -- says ESPN had no reason to issue an apology for Brent Musburger's televised swooning during the BCS Championship game ... because the comments were nothing but flattering.

Webb appeared on "Today" moments ago and stood up for the 73-year-old --saying, “I think the media has been really unfair to [Musburger]."

She added, "If he would’ve said something along the line that we were hot or sexy or made any derogatory statements like that, I think that would’ve been a little bit different, but the fact that he said that we were beautiful and gorgeous, I don’t see why any woman wouldn’t be flattered by that."

ESPN later issued an apology for Brent's comments -- but Webb says, "I don’t think it was needed, honestly. Of course, I appreciate it, but at the same time, I don’t think that I needed an apology.’’

If NBC isn't making Al Roker apologize for talking about pooping his pants while he was at The White House, Brent M should not have to apologize for his remarks. Now, had Brent made those remarks about Princess Kate's sister Pipper/Pippen/Pickle (whatever her name is) during the Royal Wedding, that would have been totally inappropriate. For the guy to call a Beauty Pageant Queen "Beautiful" during a football game where many of the fans are hammered, the cheerleaders are all half naked and the commercials are pretty racy is a small offense.

So, they're making a big deal out of this guy calling a beautiful woman beautiful... but it's totally cool that Kathy Griffin simulated oral sex on national television on new year's eve when some parents allow their kids to stay up and watch the ball drop. What the F**** is wrong with our society?!?!

It's a male dominated sport and ogling women is to be expected (whether you like it or not). However, what would have happened had a female reporter ogled a good looking guy to a similar degree?

We only need to watch a few episodes of TMZ to see how that turns out - the guys all vomit a little in their mouths and the girls are bullied into shuttin' their pie holes.

I hope she enjoys her fifteen minutes. That's all she's going to get.

Brent Musberger is a college football icon and ESPN got viral media attention for the whole thing (as well as debate topics for all of their shows), and they then decide to kill the messenger?

IF any network should be apologizing it should be NBC.

Today they were comparing the piss princess Kim Kardashian
to Kate Middleton.

That was very distasteful in so many ways.

All the no hot women were "offended". As, they usually are when a man notices a hot woman.

Why is this a news story, I watched the video and he said nothing out of line at all. His comments were very nice.
