Jodie Foster

Kinda Comes Out

at The Golden Globes

1/14/2013 6:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Jodie Foster
said it wasn't a "coming out" speech, but after receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the Golden Globes ... the legendary actress sort of did just that.

In a bizarre, rambling and aggressive speech, Foster told the crowd she was single (*wink, wink) and talked about trying to live a private life ... one which has never involved having her own reality show ... or talking about her sexual orientation.

Then, Jodie kinda sorta did an about-face, saying she did her "coming out 1,000 years ago" and went on to thank her ex-partner and co-parent, Cydney Bernard.

It's a speech that really just defies explanation, so just watch the video and piece it together for yourself.

By the way ... best line of the night was the last, when Amy Poehler, with Tina Fey by her side, ended the show by saying, "Thank you very much. We're going home with Jodie Foster."

It looks to me not like she is drunk or anything but extremely nervous because when I am nervous about something I tend to talk a lot like that.

Everyone who was anyone in college knew this about her and blamed it on that Hankley & guy and a overbearing stage mother. YAWN!

What about all the Single Ladies such as I who postponed engagement and marriage despite the repeated proposals because an ex was abusive? Are straight single women sexually suspect because of avoiding marriage to a lout who'd abuse the babies?

Her publicist has a lot of damage control to do, starting with addressing how one should never accept a lifetime acchievement award nomination in their forties, because they're sending the message that they're giving up on their career. That's what I'd recommend to my client & she's still happily adored and productive in her sixties!

Aggressive??? Would you use that word if a man gave the same speech?

Bizarre? Rambling?? Aggressive??? Who the hell writes this garbage?! Her speech was neither and ironically, over-hyped and lousy "journalism" like this is exactly why celebs like Jodie Foster choose to keep their personal lives private.

She wasn't coming out, she was making fun of you people getting in her business.

There's a commenter on this board who goes by the username Kaveman. He's a known sex offender who lives in a run down apartment, so disregard anything he says on here. Lowlife perv.

If you want your privacy, then DON'T TALK ABOUT IT EVERY CHANCE YOU GET!!! Do your job, when you want to, of course, and we don't want to hear about your personal life. Really we don't.

She came out many years ago, so any inference was just as crazy as the rest of her speech.

Apparently TMZ staffers get EASILY confused.
It wasn't a disorganized, rambling speech. She was reading her speech from the teleprompter. If you couldn't see that, get your eyes checked. And NO, it' wasn't a 'coming out' speech. As she said (and you've chosen - in light of sensationalist reporting - chosen to do), she came out 1000 years ago. She was just leading up to thank her (gay) ex for all her support. Jesus TMZ, Get your crap together. Jr. High Student could report with better accuracy. People don't always believe what YOU write, because everyone isn't cattle.
