'Django' Slave Toys

BANNED from eBay

1/24/2013 9:48 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0124-django-toys-ebay
Don't count on finding one of those discontinued "Django Unchained" slave toys on eBay any time soon -- TMZ has learned, the action figures have now been banned from the auction website.

TMZ broke the story ... the Weinstein Company (which produced the film) discontinued the promotional figurines in response to a massive backlash from several African-American advocacy groups.

After the toy company halted production, the toys began to pop up on eBay as "rare" collectibles ... and bids skyrocketed.

0124-django-ebay-list
But last night, all the listings for the "Django" toys were yanked from the website -- and eBay explained itself to sellers with an email, saying, "Since the manufacturer of this product has discontinued the item’s sale due to its potentially offensive nature, we are not allowing it to be sold on eBay.”

eBay also cautioned the sellers not to re-list the items.

A rep for the auction website confirmed the story, telling us, "These [toys] were removed as they were in violation of our Offensive Materials policy."

Until Americans come to grips with the persisting legacy of slavery, racial friction will remain a fact of life. If America is unwilling to look at the horror of the trans-Atlantic slave trade and what happened to them as a people, there will never be a chance for good relations between black and white! American White folk do not know what happened to African Americans and they don’t know why they are in the privileged position that they are in today based on what happened to them! Slavery is seen as too painful and divisive a subject for discussion, but ignoring that harsh truth and history doesn’t solve the problem! Americans suffer from “national amnesia about the impact and the reach of slavery! The slave trade and slavery fueled the economic development of America and Europe, the industrial revolution, and slave populations, counted as 3/5’s of a human being, helped catapult many of America’s early presidents into office. Many modern financial institutions, like Barclay’s Bank and Lloyds of London, and leading cities in America and Europe were built on the enslavement of Blacks. Under depraved slave masters, Blacks endured cruel torture, were dehumanized, breed and sold like animals, The heads of rebellious slaves were mounted on poles, slaves were lynched, the flesh of slaves flayed open by whips, pregnant women beaten and salt poured into open wounds to induce pain! The present generation of Whites had nothing to do with what happened to them. Therefore, they’re argument is, we didn’t do it. I’ve never lynched none of you people, so why don’t ya’ll stop whining, If the government of the United States, Congress, the Supreme Court, state legislatures, governors are willing to look at the problem, you will see something that will give you a different thought on what is justice and why Blacks continue to cry out for justice.

Are you the present generation of Whites better than your fathers? You didn’t do it, but the responsibility to correct the wrong is on your shoulders!

All bc of some whiny black folks who still use racism as an excuse for there problems. And they wonder why they are at the top of all statistics regarding violence and in education and low wages. Please folks before you speak can you come at me depth something beside 'well white dude shot kids and mass murder'. Blah blah.

It's called censorship and those who had the least amount of rights and fought so hard to get their rights should be the LAST people in line for censorship.

But there are a ton of antique Aunt Jemima cookie jars and figurines for auction on eBay RIGHT NOW. eBay will never be consistent as long as they only pull the items Jesse Jackson and his associated groups complain about - which means whatever gives them immediate PR at the time.

Explain to me how these figures are offensive to any one person or race.
My ancestors had their land taken away from them.
We made awful slaves, we killed those who tried to enslave us. We also don't bitch and moan.

There is not one black person alive today that knows what it is like to be a slave. If you do, you should report that to the local authorities.
