Ex-NFL Star Jamal Anderson

The Bank Took My Mansion

1/26/2013 4:30 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Former NFL star Jamal Anderson took a beating on his Georgia mansion ... TMZ has learned his primo crib was sold off at a foreclosure auction ... for $225,000 LESS than what Jamal paid.

Jamal -- who played for the Atlanta Falcons from 1994 to 2001 -- bought the MASSIVE 10-bedroom, 9-bath crib way back in 1999 (when he had an NFL contract) for $1.225 million.

According to official records, Anderson defaulted on his mortgage ... so the bank foreclosed the home and recently sold it at auction for an even $1,000,000.

It was a STEAL for the buyer ... the pad is over 6,000 square feet, sits on 2 acres and is rockin' a separate guest house, arcade room, media room, pool and spa.

In other Jamal news ... TMZ has learned he just paid off that $1.1 million federal tax lien. Yay.

I don't understand why these houses aren't just paid for in cash, up front when they sign these big contracts

Should have paid it off while you were making the cash. You sure the 6000 sf was large enough for your ego?

For banks it doesn’t matter if you’re a celebrity or no and the most important is you to be able make payments in time. That’s why celebrities should be more responsible. But I don’t understand why many of them don’t make payments on they mortgages. When people who live through online no fax payday loans can’t pay off their houses it’s understandable but when famous and rich people don’t do it then it’s just strange. In case you want to stay in your house it’s necessary to make payments strictly in time to prove the lender your responsibility.
