8:20 PM -- The LAPD held a news conference and said no body has been pulled out of the scorched cabin yet ... as it is still too hot to enter.

Law enforcement sources directly connected to the case tell TMZ a body was found inside a Big Bear cabin, and they are all but certain it is Christopher Dorner -- who earlier engaged police in a gunfight before the cabin went up in flames.

We're told positive identification may take a while because the body was badly burned, but our sources are convinced they have their man.

Cops had cornered Dorner in the remote cabin ... after reports came in that he robbed a nearby home, tied up the couple living inside and fled in a white Dodge pickup truck.

A state Fish & Game ranger fired on the vehicle, and cops closed in soon after -- resulting in a violent standoff ... during which tons of shots were fired, hitting two San Bernardino County deputies ... one of whom died at the hospital.

At this point, it's unclear how exactly Dorner died. Cops reportedly heard a single gunshot around the time the cabin ignited ... indicating Dorner might have shot himself.

Dorner was accused of murdering three people -- including one police officer -- in shootings that took place on February 3rd and February 7th in California. Two other police officers were injured in the shootings.

Cops believe Dorner -- a former LAPD officer who was dismissed in 2008 -- posted a rambling manifesto on his Facebook page ... in which he declared "unconventional and asymmetric warfare" on the LAPD and their families.

In the manifesto, Dorner also expressed his admiration for countless celebrities -- like Charlie Sheen, Bill Cosby, Larry David, and Ellen DeGeneres.

I think someone said something about the "whistleblower" act or something... I thought about the same thing. This law was made to protect those who know of wrongdoing within an organization. HOWEVER, when it comes to trying to throw the LAPD under the bus, it doesn't exactly apply. There is A LOT of controversy with the LAPD. A LOT. And they hate and will get rid of whistleblowers at ANY cost. These movies that come out like Training Day, Rampart, etc... and shows like the Shield, weren't far off from the truth. They didn't come from nothing. Do your research...there are A LOT of mysteries surrounding this organization. BIG TIME. Again, i don't support killing innocent people. But obviously this guy couldn't trust ANYBODY to expose the department. He was in fear of being killed. Could the LAPD have him killed? They are cops, they know exactly how to get rid of someone and blame it on someone else. "It's not what you know, it's what you can prove" That line didn't come from nothing either. Anyways, again, it is wrong to kill innocent people. But obviously this guy got pushed to the point of being a manic depressive.

TMZ you are so retarded...get your facts straight before you post a story to your page! Just because you want to be "First!" to report a story, does not mean you need to assume anything or draw your own conclusions! This is exactly what is wrong with the media! Oh, and another thing, please stop posting pics of Chris Brown and Rihanna...you are just glorifying their sick and twisted relationship for your own benefit...when he does beat the crap out of her again, or worse he kills her, then someone should drag your name into the lawsuit! Nobody wants to hear about these retards anymore!

I wish I could get even with the Ca. sheriffs for the **** they caused me. They lied in court and just because they wear the badge makes them rightous. Bull****. I had to pay a huge fine for one lying punk ass trainee sheriff. Good that the police were killed and now I can sleep like a baby. Stupid cops weren't thinking of retribution. Man that was stupid to put their families on the line. Thats what they get for being A-HOLES especially re: Rodney King. So glad stinking cops went down and I hope somehow Dorner got away man I hope that. Gotta celebrate and throw a big party. At last I got vindicated! More and more oppressed people will eventually get even. you'll see. Besides cops get killed by civilians all the time for f*****g Up. OOh thats so cool, long as I don't partake. I got even and now I'll call it a night and sleep like a baby.

See what we will see soon is those 2 women who got shot up by the lapd come out the hospital and have lawyers left n right willing to represent them... LAPD will not get away with that... Plus I want to know what those "hostages" will say to the media???? What if they say he wasn't dangerous? Who knows if it was him? He could have easily killed them but didn't.

HoTMZ

Thank you Dorner for bringing the LAPD's vile acts to my attention. The next question is, who gets the $1.1 million reward -the maid who called 911 or the game and wildlife deputy who first spotted him? I hope the reason they killed him wasn't to avoid paying out the reward if there's some clause stating for his live capture.

Americans are ****ed n that's no lie every country says it! How can "trained" policeman attack two women? Open fire in them? Weren't they looking for a man? ONE man ? Who normally delivers newspapers to calm down after he murders? Give your dumb American asses m/ heads a shake and wake up, then similarity another vehicle gets taken down Iraq style? Geez not trained -just idiots with guns. When policeman break the law there's just a fight for survival.. N mr dorner god rest his soul was clearly at a breaking point in his life after he served in the military n should never have been given a badge with a license to kill . And what's even funnier is every black man that even came close to looking like dorner probably stayed home n hid cuz they'd get dropped on the spot !!!
