Chris Dorner

$1 Million Reward ...

Big Loophole

2/13/2013 10:25 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0213_chris_dorner_reward_one_million_article

Several private citizens were instrumental in cornering cop killer Christopher Dorner ... but there may be a gigantic loophole preventing any of them from collecting the loot.

There are 3 rewards.  The Mayor of L.A. announced a $1 million reward -- funded by private groups -- for information leading to the "capture and conviction" of Dorner.  Big problem -- technically speaking, Dorner must be both captured AND convicted to trigger the reward.

The L.A. City Council offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to "the identification, apprehension, and conviction" of Dorner.  Again ... no conviction.   City Council sources tell us there's already a disagreement between the Legislative Analyst and the City Attorney over how to interpret the reward language.

And finally ... the L.A. County Board of Supervisors offered a $100,000 reward for information "leading to the capture of Christopher Dorner."  One source at the Board of Supervisors tells TMZ,  "Dorner was cornered but not captured."

Translation ... technically speaking, no one may be entitled to the reward.  It's unclear if the Mayor, the City Council and the Board of Supervisors will bend the rules.

You'd be screwed if you did and screwed if you didn't.

If you tell them whwere a suspect is and he dies, no reward.

If you tell them you know where he is but won't tell them unless you get the reward, they arrest you for withholding the information.

Offering a reward is a catch-22

OMG! CRAZEEEEEE
You, the LAPD already convicted him on so many levels.
I'd say surrounding him like a caged animal, wild wild west shoot out, putting smoke bombs in the house which you knew would explode (WACO) and tearing down each wall with SWAT equipment should equal captured dead on arrival...burnt to a crisp in fact. I sure hope you re-build that cabin for those people. You didn'thave to have it end that way. Again LAPD showing they are the big guns. By the way, when are you arresting EVANS and her buddy crew on the board? Or just fire her for lying like you did to Chris

They better pay up or they look even worse. They never thought to check the cabin across the road from the command center? They need all the help they can get.

You know it kind of makes u wonder if this guy was telling the truth when he said he was fired because he reported abuse in the LAPD and now they want to take back the reward money that was promised to these people. I'm not saying that what he did was right. nobody has a right to take anyone's life. But the fact that there are doing to do this to the people that help them capture this man just makes them look bad.

Not surprised. The government will do anything it takes to keep from having to pay any money out. I'm sure that was why they had the cops set that cabin on fire, so that he wouldn't come out alive and then they have to pay.

If they have taken possession of his remains I consider that captured and they can always posthumously convict him.
