LeAnn Rimes

Sues Dentist

You Screwed Up My Teeth!

2/14/2013 4:06 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0214-leann-rimes-tmzLeAnn Rimes is suing her dentist, claiming he botched up her mouth so bad ... it's messing up her career.

In the lawsuit ... obtained by TMZ ... Rimes claims she went to Dr. Duane C. McKay for various dental work over 3 years. Some of the work included upper front veneers and crowns that the dentist promised would address her TMJ-related pain as well as improve her appearance.

Rimes claims rather than helping, the dentist messed her mouth up bad, causing tremendous pain and bleeding. Back in October, she tweeted, "I feel like I got hit in my right side of my face with a baseball bat."

Rimes says she's had to undergo 9 root canals and bone grafting. She's also had a temporary bridge and needed physical therapy as well.

Rimes says in the suit she will have a "permanent cosmetic deficiency."

Rimes says the dental work is so bad it has been screwing with her career ... impeding her ability to perform.

In her malpractice lawsuit, LeAnn is seeking unspecified damages for physical, emotional and psychiatric injuries. She also wants money for loss of past and future earnings.

NEWSFLASH:Dental damage characteristic of eating disorders:
Logically, the damage caused by vomiting will be where the stomach acid has come into contact with teeth, mostly affecting the backs of the teeth, facing the palate and at the gum line around the incisors. Over time, the enamel will disappear totally on the insides of the teeth. Teeth wear down into a point and lose their height.

in order to have a valid claim she has to: 1.prove there was some injury or loss. 2...show that compared to normal procedures, the dentist did something he sholdn't have, or didn't do something he should have.
3..that the injury was caused by number 2.

pain in face...was it tempero-mandibulr joint pain, which she had before? often not "cured."
all other complaints need a different knid of doctor to yteat.

I feel for the dentist. People need to be aware that dentistry is not magic. Some procedures, especially surgical ones can have some discomfort involved. You don't get chemo and then Sue your MD because you have nausea...it's to be expected!!! If she had bone grafting done, that means she had a tooth extracted- which is surgical. Are you going to tell me she expected to have no post op sensations what so ever?? Come on!!! I think someone is hard up for cash.
