The Oscars

Security Team 'Extra Vigilant' In Wake of Mass Shootings

2/24/2013 1:40 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0222-oscars-2013-securityLaw enforcement is on extra-high alert for tonight's Oscars ... given the wave of gun violence across the country ... various law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

The LAPD's official position is that they are always vigilant at Oscar ceremonies and security is tight.  But multiple law enforcement sources tell us ... there is "an extra knot" in security this year because of all the shootings that have made big news in the U.S..

One LAPD honcho tells us ... the general climate right now is intense:  "When someone from the city gets fired, the city manager of the department calls because they're scared the person who was fired will go postal."  The source adds, "People are going crazy with fear."

On the stalker front ... we're told the LAPD gives a private security company -- Security Industry Specialists (SIS) -- an information packet of stalkers who are harassing stars who are attending the Oscars.  The packets include pictures of the stalkers, which are distributed to security in the field.

Times are tense.

Shouldn't the White House send in the CIA, FBI, Secret Service, and the full force of the United States Military?

Laughing at celebrities is fun.

Liberals aren't going to shoot their false idols. More wasted money.

When is Louie Anderson going to host the Academy Awards?

Watching Louie tell jokes that are so old they have hair on them, while dabbing his forehead sweat with a hanky would be possibly the greatest moment in the showbiz history.

I agree! These buttholes actors/actresses make millions of dollars on movies that show them using guns killing people, then they make commercials "to demand a plan" that guns should be even more controlled.

Then they have an "awards ceremony" in which they wear outfits worth THOUSANDS of dollars and jewelry worth HUNDREDS of thousands, and pat each other on the back saying how wonderful they all are.

I wonder if they will give any of their gun-movie-money to the families that have lost loved ones due to gun violence? HYPOCRITES! Especially you, JAMIE FOXX.

If they are truly concerned about gun violence, STOP MAKING MONEY OFF MOVIES WITH GUN VIOLENCE AND DON'T EXPECT TO HAVE *ARMED* GUARDS PROTECTING YOU!

HYPOCRITES!

Why don't they just ban guns at the event make it a gun free zone. That way they don't need to have all their armed body guards, oh wait they know that doesn't work so it's only for the poor and minorities that they don't give a crap about like the poor people of Detroit and Chicago not the rich elite that make there money off violent movies.

"wave of gun violence'???? WHERE?? It's the same as it has always been. There was a nut who stole guns and shot up a school and there was another nut ex-cop who melted down and they made the news, but otherwise it's the same violence that happens every day. Saying 'wave of gun violence' feeds into the anti-gun mentality ... and strokes the egos of the celebrities ....

The worst fear at the Oscars is that of dying from boredom.
