'Selena' Actress

Family Pissed About

Oscars 'Memoriam' Snub

2/25/2013 5:00 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The family of "Selena" star Lupe Ontiveros is incredibly upset she was left out of last night's "In Memoriam" presentation at the Oscars ... despite appearing in dozens of major films over the past 30 years.

Ontiveros -- who passed away in July 2012 --  had roles in "Real Women Have Curves", "As Good as it Gets", and "The Goonies" ... but is best known for her role as Yolanda Saldivar, the woman who murdered Selena.

Ontiveros' son Elias tells TMZ ... the whole family gathered to watch the awards show -- and was "disappointed" Lupe wasn't given her proper due -- especially considering some lesser-known people were honored over his mom.

You'll recall, George Clooney did warn some artists might be left out when introducing the tribute, saying, "For for those friends who are on this list tonight, and many others who aren't, we thank you for the memories."

Other celebs snubbed along with Ontiveros -- Andy Griffith, director Gore Vidal, Sherman Hemsley, athlete-turned-actor Alex Karras, and Sylvia Kristel.

what about whitney houston? She was a singer, but she was also in several movies. The bodyguard was worldwide seen...and she had the main role....

I think they do this on purpose because it happens every year......they leave out 5 or 10 people. If they cared truly, it wouldn't happen. They have plenty of time...what's ten more pictures in a five hour show? I am guessing they have the budget to do a little research and not miss anyone, but they choose not to. I think it makes them feel good to say some people don't make the cut.....even after death. Elitist DBags one and all!

I'm still pissed there wasn't a proper tribute for Kirk Douglas, the man was awarded the lifetime achievement award, where the hell was the film footage montage from all his films?

They need to see her on TV to remember her? What petty people.

Donna Summer won an Oscar and was not shown. What an outrage!

They missed a lot of actors which is sad. Those actors worked hard and need a respectful recognition. You suck Oscars! It's funny how the stars act like their uptight, and high class during the show. They can't even take a joke. They cringe when they hear jokes. Just cuz your wearing millions of dollars of jewelry makes you a God? Please!!!!

Sorry, but Corey Feldman hadn't done a movie in how many years (?) before Corey Haim died, and had made a couple desperate attempts to get back into "Hollywood." Remember "Surreal Life" and his reality show?

With George we need to check the political affiation of the ones mentioned and the ones left off the list.

Andy was a well known republican and conservative so George would not mention him unless he was paid to of course.

Maybe for next year, they can knock out some of the silliness and extend the Memoriam. I noticed that an executive was added, as well as a bunch of sound guys. To forget Andy Griffith was just PLAIN WRONG.
This Academy Awards was a step in the right direction, but it needs a whole lot of work.
