Journey's Neal Schon

Judge Tells Ex-Wife ...

Get a Job

2/26/2013 12:15 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0225-neal-amber-schon-article-getty-2Neal Schon just scored a big victory over his ex-wife -- a judge not only shut down her attempt to milk an extra $2,758/month out of the Journey guitarist, but also suggested she get a degree and support herself ... TMZ has learned.

According to court documents, Amber Schon wanted Neal to up his $3,000/month in child support to $5,758.90/month. Amber and Neal have 2 minor children ... Aja and Sophia.

But a family court judge in Minnesota -- where they were divorced in 2007 -- recently ruled against Amber, saying the requested increase was "intended primarily to upgrade her own standard of living."

And what a standard ... according to the documents, Amber's annual expenses include $7,200 for clothing, $5,760 for a storage locker, and $9,600 for birthday parties.

But the most shocking expense -- $2,400 on postage! Apparently, someone hasn't heard of email.

In the docs, the judge says Amber could be earning up to $36,000/year on her own ... if she'd just complete her teaching degree -- and added it's not Neal's fault she failed to "obtain any kind of employment."

Neal tells TMZ, "My concern is with my children and I'm infuriated they are being exploited and used to extort money from me."

It might be time to stop believin' ... for Amber, anyway.

He has millions and only has to pay $1500 a month per child? Didnt he spend more on underwear for his girlfriend last year on that lingerie spree in Beverly Hills?

She's only $2,758 a month? That's cheap. That's the kind of amount that I can afford for a trophy wife someday.

I 1000% agree with this judge, and it's about time! Too many of these women marry rich men then expect the husband to support the same lifestyle when they get divorced - THAT'S NOT THE WAY IT WORKS! Get a job, support your kids, and get on with your life. But 5 bux says she'll be married to some other rich dude within a year, and will once again leech of him instead of *gasp!* getting a job!

Neal is an *******.. Skimping out on your kids yet spending millions on the new chick.. And, the judge is just as much of an ******* for supporting it.. Seriously, travelling all over the world, earning millions, and only required to pay $3000/mth??

That's the problem with child support, there's no tracking system.
They can take the money and spend it on themselves, none the wiser.
They need to set up some sort of EBT system such as with food stamps etc so there's a *record* of *exactly* what the child support money is spent on

More judges need to be this smart instead of ordering people to pay thousands of dollars/month to able-bodied exes.

Smart judge. These women only have kids to get money and if the payout drops, this nasty habit will too. It is way too easy to prevent pregnancy so no reason to have an "oops" baby. It's about time these women take some responsibility for the support of these kids rather than think they are supposed to become wealthy just because they managed to breed. Unfortunately, the kids pay the price in the meantime.

I think he has a lot of money. He will never be able to explain to his children why they lived in relative poverty while he lived the high life with his new families. Women should be supported to stay home and raise their children, especially when they are as young as theirs are. These children need a parent with them, not a nanny or babysitter or day care. If they were a poverty family and everyone was forced to work to survive, that would be different. And how's she supposed to go to school and still take care of these children and pay for it all? I think some judges are stupid.
