9/11 Victim's Mom

'Zero Dark Thirty' Used My Son's Voice WITHOUT Permission

The mother of a 9/11 victim who died in the World Trade Center says she NEVER gave permission for "Zero Dark Thirty" producers to use a voicemail left by her son during the attack.

Mary Fetchet has lashed out to several media outlets ... saying she was shocked and upset when she heard her son's voice featured in the dramatic opening moments of the Oscar nominated movie.

Fetchet's son, Bradley, left the voicemail for Mary while he was on the 89th floor of the World Trade Center.

The studios behind the movie released a statement calling the movie a "tribute" to the victims -- and saying they "initiated contact with a number of families."

Fetchet -- and at least one other family of a 9/11 victim -- aren't buying the explanation and are now demanding an apology.

since this recording (really, pretty much all information related to 9/11) are part of the public record, isn't it totally fine for the filmmakers to have included it in their film without compensating anyone?

the bush administration knew about how to stop 9/11=massive cover-up

The Bush White House Was Deaf to 9/11 Warnings -

But there were other briefings, some seen by Eichenwald, that did warn of an imminent attack.

On May 1 the CIA said that a terrorist group in the U.S. was planning an attack.

On June 22 it warned that this attack was "imminent."

On June 29 the brief warned of near-term attacks with "dramatic consequences" including major casualties.

On July 1, the briefing said that the terrorist attack had been delayed but "will occur soon."

On July 24, the president was told again that the attack had been delayed but would occur within months”

Everyone is commenting that she wants money , but no where in this article does it state that. It said she wants an apology

These calls have been broadcast thousands of times on news reports and every show imaginable. Surely, they are in the public domain at this point.

Don't these "victims" ever give up trying to get mileage out of this tragedy?

They could have used a voice actor to say what he said, guess they decided using the real thing would get more people to watch and guarantee them more money, in which case they should probably share a bit, considering the motive

If the movie used someone else's voice than she still would be a complainer about someone who faked her son voice. Either way she is a gold mine digger . It's sad that she use her son as a honey pot.

i cannot believe some of the comments on here insulting this mother .. its easy to see why America has turned into a total sh_t dump - the total lack of compassion people have for one another is ridiculous .. They used her sons voice for a movie that made a lot of money for some people / she and any family this man had deserve compensation if the law says so .. easy as that / no need to tell her to " go to hell " and get a " job " .. If this happened to any of you its pretty apparent from your total lack of character that you'd be handling this situation a little shadier -

We're all pretty much tired of everyone and his brother exploiting 9/11 at this point. Let it rest.

In respect to the family and the deceased they should have asked for permission that was such a horrifying, and tragic day.

Obviously she put the voicemail out there for public listening. She's the only person who could. They used it in a respectful way in the movie. Would she have the same complaint if it wasn't an Oscar contender? No offense to her or her tragic loss, it just seems the timing is a little coincidental. Maybe I'm wrong, but if she is looking for compensation, it's just as badly motivated as her accusation.
