'Batman' Star Burt Ward

Hey DC Comics ...

DON'T KILL ROBIN!!!

DC Comics is making a huge mistake by killing off Batman's iconic sidekick Robin in the newest issue ... so says the most famous Robin ever, who tells TMZ, the future of the Batman franchise DEPENDS on the Boy Wonder.

DC is slated to kill off Robin in the next issue of the "Batman Incorporated" series -- but Burt Ward (who played Robin in the 60s TV show) has one thing to say ... "Holy self-inflicted wound! Not good for corporate profits!”

Ward tells us, "It’s a terrible choice to kill off Robin. Why bite the hand that feeds you? ... Robin should only die in people's imaginations! Or in a state of primal ecstasy!"

FYI  -- It's not the first time Robin's been killed off in the comics ... DC previously did him in back in 1988 when fans voted to off the character.

Nevertheless, Burt adds, "Every youngster realizes that he or she is too young to drive and they are not big like Batman. So, they all yearn to be Robin who gets to RIDE WITH BATMAN AND FIGHT WITH BATMAN!"

He's got a point.

Burt can unclench, it's not Dick Grayson who's getting clipped. DC allegedly flirted with the idea of killing off Grayson in the "Infinite Crisis" miniseries, the fans got wind and let it be known a HUGE backlash was coming their way if they killed Grayson. Now if they kill off Tim Drake, THAT would be a big deal (for the geeks, lol).

Please kill off Robin. And focus on other comic book heroes other than Batman.

There have been four Robin's in the comics. The second one (Jason Todd) died but was brought back to life. The fourth one (Damian Wayne) is being killed, but he'll be back someday. Also, we'll get a new Robin.

Burt Ward was my very first crush when I was a 5 year old kindergartener back in fall 1965. Mark Lindsey from the musical group Paul Revere and the Raiders was my second crush. :)

It's realistic that robin would die in action, and batman would be held up on charges for endangering a minor.

don't ask why I know this, but it's not so much Robin being killed off, it's Batman/Bruce Wayne's son Damion. Robin will probably come back with someone else in the Robin role, but don't emphasize it as the death of Robin. Robin will return. and like they say, it doesn't matter when someone is killed off in a comic because they (can) end up returning later on.
