'Game of Thrones' Star

'I Have Less than $5 in My Bank Account'

4/4/2013 12:40 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Actress Lena Headey -- aka evil Queen Cersei from "Game of Thrones" -- claims she's dead broke with "less than $5 in her bank account" ... and she desperately needs her tax refund to cover her living expenses.

Headey opened up about her dire financial situation in new legal docs, obtained by TMZ, which she filed in response to her husband Peter Loughran's demands for half of their $46,000 tax refund from 2011 ... which technically could be community property from their marriage.

Lena -- who filed for divorce from Peter last year -- says she needs $6,000 from that refund ASAP because she's barely scraping by, living off credit to make ends meet for her and their 2-year-old son.

It's pretty shocking since she's currently a main character on one of the most popular shows on TV.

Lena says she expects to receive acting income in the near future, but she needs the $6,000 advance from the refund right now.

Lena says she's willing to give Peter $6,000 from the refund to cover his living expenses ... but she wants the rest placed into a two-signature blocked bank account pending a settlement.

The judge denied Peter's emergency motion for half the money, and Lena's proposal got tossed out with it ... so it's still unclear how the exes will split the money.

A $46,000 tax return & $5 in her bank account. Yeah, right! How much money do you have to make to get a $46,000 tax return?! She's working the system just like wealthy guys do when they are going through a divorce and want to lessen the amount of money their ex-wife is going to get.

Emotional Intelligence- Sometimes really bad things happen to really good people. For some reason the good are punished. So then, don't punish yourself. So what about all the chaos. You'll be okay. Be what you really are before all of it started and you'll find your way back.

No over indulgence in self medication or other substance. Do not turn inward.

Invest your emotions more cautiously next time.

Some people don't even have 5 dollars.

You should look within and find out more about your unknown strengths and gifts and use them to reinvent yourself.

You'll be okay. Believe in yourself. Find a way without sacrificing your principles.

Spiritually something is being revealed to you that you were not hearing and listening to. So then, don't give up.

Maybe there is something spectacular about you beyond roles and characters. Find out what that is.

I wish you well.

Just remember in the middle of the crazy there are always people know whats going on.

Don't be too hard on yourself and really, don't be embarrassed. Pure and real is better anyway.

Maybe just get a room.

Some people use TMZ and comments as publicity stunts.

How will you make sure people know you are the real thing?

Her lawyer is probably telling her to lie as a posturing technique. With a 46,000 refund, she had plenty of money in the past. If she is broke then she is just as irresponsible as all the bankrupt actors, musicians, rappers, professional athletes, lottery winners etc... Discipline with money will bring way more happiness than the stress of trying to live above your means and hang on to a "hollywood" lifestyle.

She should strip on the side. Make it rain.

Sounds fishy to me, but obviously there are details unknown. Does the ex husband have a job, or is he just waiting for the acting money too? Also, considering her current role, I doubt she's hurting, someone will look out for her. Not everyone has the options she does, so it is difficult to sympathize.

Why not do what everyone else does when they're broke? Get a payday advance (through work or a cash checking place) or a credit card increase. I'm sure if she calls her creditors they will give her an extension on past due bills - she just needs to show them her contract for the show. If all else fails, call Charlie Sheen!

By the way - LOVE that show. I guess TMZ scours the court dockets looking for stuff like this. They saw the legal doc and called her up (probably offered to pay her for the interview). I guess it's a win-win-win (story for TMZ, money for her, free advertising for the show).

No way this lady is broke! I'm sure she makes a decent salary on the show, she's got 1 movie in the can, 3 in post production, and one other in the works, yet she has $5 ... Yah right! She may have $5 in that account, but what about the other accounts she's not disclosing LMAO

The really pathetic part is that they have a child. Now they're paying lawyers big bucks to squabble over money that will ultimately NOT go to their child. My ex wasted thousands arguing over garbage that I offered to give her anyway and drug our divorce out for 2 years. We had to pull over $25k out of the kids' college fund to pay for that madness. People need to wake up during a divorce, be responsible, and put their children first.

This is actually believable; yes, she's on a popular television show, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have to pay taxes to England, a fee for her manager, PR, and accounting fee, as well as the expenses that come with a two year old and divorce. Not to mention that if she shows up to events in clothing she's worn before and is label-less, she will be met with ridicule and snarky remarks about how she's in this great show but doesn't get positive publicity for it because her dress is not the latest thing off the runway. We all sit here and think celebrities have this easy life, when really they've got a lot of stress to deal with. One could easily say that they chose to be a celebrity, but that is countered with maybe, if we weren't all obsessed with the human beings who attempt to make a living by providing us with ways to escape our abysmal lives, the life of the celebrity would be easier.

I love how people assume, that because you are on TV you are instantly rich. She is a working actress, not a star. She is not Drew Barrymore. She is on a Popular TV show that is on it's 3rd season. Her original contract was probably not for that much. When it is up she will have to renegotiate and that is where she will make real money or more money. Just because you are on tv does not make you rich.
