Rap & Gay

Don't Mix

Snoop Lion believes homosexuality and rap music are like Lindsay Lohan and sobriety ... they just don't mix.

Snoop -- a known supporter of same-sex marriage in America -- was asked by The Guardian if Frank Ocean coming out last year would pave the way for other gay rappers.

Snoop said we shouldn't hold our breath, explaining "Frank Ocean ain't no rapper. He's a singer. It's acceptable in the singing world, but in the rap world I don't know if it will ever be acceptable because rap is so masculine."

He continues, "It's like a football team. You can't be in a locker room full of motherf----g tough-ass dudes, then all of a sudden say, 'Hey, man, I like you.' You know, that's going to be tough."

But Snoop made it clear -- it's the nature of the biz, not him -- adding, "I don't have a problem with gay people. I got some gay homies."

Plus, we spoke to Snoop last week in L.A. about same-sex marriage. Here's what he had to say ...

If you want a successful gay rapper check out Cazwell. Hits include Ice Cream Truck,I Seen Beyonce at Burger King, and All Over My Face(Dirty Version). He currently DJs at NYC clubs and makes appearances. See his videos on YouTube and make up your own mind.

Snoop you small minded ahole.
Once again the stereotype that gay men hit on all guys.... Is coming up dude im gay and if i was in a locker room the last thing i would be thinking about was hitting on other players I would be worried if im clean and smell ok. Just because you have gay friends or "homies" dose not mean that you think like a homophobic bigot! I am tired of this discrimination. Just because someone is gay dose not mean we are not masculine. I challenge you small minded bigot to re think about your thoughts and just keep your mouth shut. Go smoke your pot you loser!

snoop needs to get out more. some of the roughest, toughest, most 'masculine' dudes around happen to be gay. maybe the reason you don't see many gay guys making rap music is that (1) blacks are notoriously homophobic and (2) because gay men have good taste.

He's saying that you can't be openly gay in the rap industry, Rap today talks about p u s s y and how much girls they get, etc etc. Being openly gay would not fit in with that. Can anyone hear imagine a gay man (masculine or not) rapping about d i c k s and how many men he can get? There would be little demand for that, as well as a lot of hate (unfortunately). A lot of people who listen to rap are macho men. These men don't want to listen to men rapping about their love for other men. I don't think Snoop is being inconsiderate or ignorant, it's simply the harsh truth. Sure there are many gay men in the industry, but they definitely are not openly gay, which was the topic at hand.

Rap and Gay don't mix? Really? So Snoop Dogg is just fine with someone being Gay as long as they are not in his neighborhood. This is what Classic Homophobia looks like. Snoop Dogg is a Homophobe. He can say otherwise all he wants but his 'Rap and Gay don't mix comment is exactly what has happened to Gay people all along and why Gay Rights are such a big deal. This kind of thinking is why they were turned down for jobs.

Who the H E L L does this guy think he is? If he came down of his high horse long enough, he'd realize that he does NOT get to decide who gets to have a rap career. It's based on talent, not skin color, sexual orientation or anything other than pure talent and ability.

It's not that gays aren't tough enough to be rappers, it's that they're not misogynistic enough to be rappers.

When misogyny equates to masculinity then yeah, it would be hard for a gay rapper to establish cred.

As a masculine gay man who plays soccer i would not approach any player in the locker room & say " i like u". Esp if they looked homely like Snoop.
Rap= ghetto boy talk.
