Barbara Walters' Daughter

Busted For DUI

Barbara Walters
' daughter -- whose troubled childhood was chronicled in Barbara's biography and in several TV specials -- was arrested for DUI in Florida on Sunday, TMZ has learned.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, 44-year-old Jacqueline Danforth was popped near Naples, FL.  The details surrounding the arrest are unclear.

It's an especially sad story considering Jacqueline made a public vow to get her life on track, following some turbulent teenage years filled with clubbing and substance use.

In fact, Jackie ran a wilderness program for troubled girls in northern Maine for years ... but it appears to have closed in 2008.

FYI -- Jacqueline was adopted as an infant by Walters and then-husband Lee Guber in 1968 -- before divorcing in 1976.

As for the DUI arrest, the Collier County Sheriff's Office website says she's been released from custody on $1,000 bond.

A rep for Barbara Walters had no comment.

Having researched her wilderness program on Fornits Wiki - the best database covering rehabs for minors in the world - I have to say that it is general sad when former addicts try to cure random teenagers who might not even have a problem by putting them through the same ordeal they went through.

She went through CEDU. A place where a child murderer ran freely on the campus and where the remains of 3 teenagers are yet to be found. Alone this fact should have meant years of therapy when she became an adult. Instead she put the idea inside her head that she should save the world for young innocent teenage girls.

Of course the program closed. It should never have been founded. She should have focused on her own problems. Now both the program and she have failed. Very sad.

Who watches The View? Ever hear anybody at work say they watch it? How empty is your life? To waste your life. Is your life trash? There are excusable exceptions, like the challenged, old people and immigrants. More people on food stamps watch than any other class. Get a job at McDonald's and you will manage the place in a year. How devoid of the American spirit can you get? Turn off the TV and start living. The good of TV is outweighed by the bad. TV is a weirdo in the house. Don't become a slave to the weirdo. Wean your family from TV before they become weirdos like the hosts of The View.

Didn't Jacqueline run a camp for wayward girls? She should have read her camp's philosophy model outline...

I am sure it was no walk in the park to have Barbara Walters as your adopted mother! But with that being said you can't continue blaming your past and parents for your adult behavior!

What a poor excuse Danforth... you stated ‘I think that somewhere inside you think, ‘Why did people give me up?’” adding that “played a big, big, part” in her drug abuse. We say excuses are like bellybuttons everybody has one. We have adopted our three granddaughters and I pray that they don't grow up thinking the same way you do. The reason they are with us is cause their parents chose the same path as you have. Their parents both grew up in a very good two parent traditional family home where they were loved very much. You should be a better person and reflect on the fact that there was someone, that loved you and enough to adopt you and give you a better life than those than don't get adopted. I have heard of some very strong individuals that were in the foster care system in and out of homes and yet they became successful and upstanding citizens. People like you choose your own destiny and it could be a better one. Drugs and alcohol hurt everyone around you that love you dearly. This should not be a reflection on Barbara Walters, Jacqueline is a grown up and knows better. My personal belief is one that I can speak of because I have walked in the shoes of many parents that blame themselves and some of us shouldn't. Especially when we know we raised our kids to know better, lead by example. Some people just choose a different path in life. Please get some help Jacqueline and move forward and don't look back. Good luck to you and your family.
