Paris Jackson

Cops Say She DIDN'T Want to Die

EXCLUSIVE

Cops officially classified the Paris Jackson incident as a "suicide attempt," but they do NOT believe her intent was to kill herself.

Law enforcement sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... based on the information the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. has gathered ... "She wanted attention."  One source involved in the case tells us ... her call to a suicide hotline is compelling evidence "she wanted to be saved."  The source added, "It makes no sense if you really want to die to call a hotline, where the person on the other end will get an ambulance over to your house."

TMZ broke the story ... Paris used a meat cleaver to cut her arm and took a bunch of Motrin, and our sources say as a result they must classify it as a "suicide attempt."  But, as one source put it, "Who takes Motrin to kill themselves?  She called the suicide hotline because she wanted the attention and wanted to make sure EMTs got there in time."

We're also told Paris was conscious when EMTs arrived and did not argue or put up a struggle when she was placed on a stretcher.

One source connected with the case tells us, "She's into the drama."

This is a 15 year old child. It is absolutely disgusting TMZ that you would publish a blind quote that states, "She is into the drama." NO ONE goes through an event like this for drama sake. Where on earth do you get the ridiculous idea that people who call suicide lines are not seriously in crisis? Suicidal ideation has a proven link to completed suicide. Why do you think we have suicide lines? Or better yet, why do we have mental health professionals if "law enforcement sources" are so qualified to determine intent? I guess we could use these sources to prevent all suicides since they are so able to make that call. Ridiculous and dangerous TMZ! Let me add ignorant too!

Regardless of the cir***stances of her hospitalization, this article is hideous. Way to trivialize the situations of those in existential despair with thoughts of suicide. At least ROL published the suicide prevention hotline and urged those with thoughts of suicide to use it, along with coverage on Paris. And flock the "sources" blabbing to tabloids.

Wow, tmz I can't believe you would post that comment, "she's into the drama"! That shows a real lack of respect to Paris, and anyone who is in her state of mind! That's way out of line! Hope u remove that line!

I think these cutters are really attempting suicide without going all the way. They want to see what it would feel like to be dead and then that makes them feel better somehow. Maybe she got the cleaver to make it seem more real and then took motrin for the pain from it.

Then she called the hotline because maybe she realized that she did hurt herself. I don't know about the suicide note since they aren't showing it. I really don't think she took enough action to expect to die.

I think the Jackson family is all about the drama. They are likely the ones saying she couldn't go to a concert and was mad. They are likely saying that she is all about drama when she is physically wounded. They are likely saying that she wanted to kill herself with serious intent.

The judge should have left well enough alone and left the kids with Katherine. Why this greedy family got a leg in just for kidnapping their mother makes no sense.

Kids don't try to kill themselves unless they feel oppressed on an ongoing basis. It was not just some drama over not going to a concert or not wanting to testify in a trial.

I feel like these kids were like Michael Jackson's pet llamas and now the family is stuck caring for them when they have no interest in it. What does Janet need money for, another nose job or a burkha for when she goes back to some Arab slave state? These people are irrational and wicked.

I feel like your "sources" are comments that people posted yesterday.

Whoever this source is, what a disgusting person. The other comments here have said it all, but one thing I want to mention is how the source claims that people don't kill themselves with Motrin... It isn't one of the top methods of suicide, but it happens. Motrin (Ibuprofen) can cause stomach bleeding and kidney failure when taken in large doses. It is a horribly painful way to die, but it can easily kill a person.

I've actually known one person who died this way. They were brought to the hospital and were responsive for days as their organs slowly started to shut down.

As for the hotline, it served its purpose.

This source must be a lucky person because they don't seem to know a single person who has any sort of mental health issue.

How irresponsible of you TMZ to talk about such an incident involving a teenager with such disregard for her health. If you're going to dig dirt like this, show some respect and compassion.

Please TMZ, if nothing else, try to be a little more responsible when it comes to "reporting" about mental health issues. They are serious and deserve to be treated as such. That shouldn't even have to be said, it should just be obvious.
