Chris Brown to L.A. City:

My Graffiti Is Protected

By the 1st Amendment!!

6/19/2013 1:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0506_chris_brown_graffiti_tmz_wmChris Brown is firing back at the City of L.A. -- claiming the gov. has NO RIGHT to force him to remove the graffiti art on the front of his L.A. home because it's protected by the 1st Amendment.

Brown just filed an appeal with the city -- telling officials the bill they're trying to stick him with for having an "unpermitted" mural on the front wall of his Hollywood Hills home is pure B.S..

According to the legal documents, obtained by TMZ, Brown claims the city is wrongly trying to nail him for having an illegal "sign" -- when the graffiti is art that "[enhances] the architectural and aesthetic features of the residential property."

Translation -- my artwork makes my house look dope, son!

Then Chris drops the constitutional bomb -- arguing, "The murals are a reflection of [my] aesthetic taste and a reflection of free speech and expression protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution."

Brown's case is now in the hands of the Dept. of Building and Safety's board of appeals -- and if they shut him down, he can bring the fight to L.A. County Superior Court.

In fact, there's a chance ... albeit a small chance ... that Brown's case could go all the way up to the Supreme Court if he's not willing to back down.

Can't believe the people here saying it's his right, uh, no it isn't. If you want to deface your own property then you have to live someplace that has no restrictions. Detroit comes to mind. He just wants to be "in your face" all the time cause he's an ignorant jackass.

His "ART" looks like "CRAP" but what I really wanna know, how fast would the city be out there to clean that crap off if was done by a vandal and he called in to complain about it.

Poor neighbors, they probably all said, "there goes the neighborhood" the first time they saw him there.

...and this is what we get as a society for spending the last ten years telling people "It's all about you", exacerbated by the inability of PR and Talent Managment to tell their piggy-bank clients when they are being ignorant. He is incapable of being law-abiding, yet has the gaul to claim protection under the constitution. Lovely. Way to be a responsible citizen.

Chris Brown should have bought his house on 110th and Avalon, instead of the Hollywood Hills. People spend millions of dollars for those homes, just for Chris Brown to move into the neighborhood and turn it into a Ghetto.

The neighborhood complaint is Chris Brown's artwork of scary faces is frightening the children. They asked him to just tone it down. What Chris doesn't seen to understand, the city is not asking him to remove his artwork or graffiti. They are penalizing him because he didn't get a PERMIT (see paragraph 2 in the article). Also, Chris' property line IS his wall but the land he stands on to paint his wall is city own property as well as the street. It appears Chris doesn't care about the children's emotions or neighbors, only himself.

Imagine spending $5 million+ for a home in the Hollywood Hills. And having to see/drive by this **** every day. NO CLASS. Move back to the ghetto.

How sad for the neighbors having ghetto graffiti to look at. He needs to grow up. Such a little boy.

I really do not like this guy. And I thank God for the Home Owners Association, because otherwise people like Chris Brown would turn every community into a ghetto. I really do not like this guy. And what's so interesting about it is, I used to like him at one time. But he's just gone from sugar to sh!t. The pixie dust has definitely worn off. He just wants that neighborhood to look like his body: all tatted up like a billboard. I thank God for the Home Owners Association, and I hope and pray that they get rid of him. It seemed like a nice neighborhood. My heart goes out to the people who have to live around him.

Chris Brown is wrong, and on top of that he's a jacka$$. He gave his last neighbors hell too. Chris Brown maybe needs to buy a ranch waaay out somewhere where he doesn't have any neighbors because he sure ain't no "people person".
