Jim Carrey

RIPS His Flick

'Kick Ass 2' is Too Violent

Jim Carrey
doesn't care if he torpedoes his new movie "Kick-Ass 2" ... he's speaking his mind ... bashing the film's extreme violence in the wake of last year's massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Jim -- who plays Colonel Stars and Stripes -- tweeted his sentiments today, saying, "I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence.”

He added, "My apologies to others involved with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.”

The film, due out in August, is a highly anticipated sequel. The first one grossed almost $100 million worldwide. Make no mistake, to have Carrey -- by far the movie's biggest star -- drop his support is a huge blow.

We reached out to Universal -- the studio behind the flick -- so far no word back.

...the majority of films that make money are filled with violence...so are the video/computer games that sell the best..and music and music videos....it's just the culture we live it and what the consumer wants..no need too feel bad Mr. Carrey..but understand totally what you are saying..

U were funny in pet detective but you have gone way downhill from there Jim. I think the best term used to describe you was "Over Actor" just like when on In Living Color skits. Doing murals on your garage dating younger women is just a sign of mental illness....be happy u made it this far Jim why not do us all a favor and retire to a foreign country?

A G rated movie called "kick ass" would be false advertising. Who would hire this guy now to star in a film when he might take your cash then badmouth your movie.

**** Jim Carrey. You made the movie, cashed the check, and now you're gonna step on the toes of your fellow actors whose future careers would get a significant boost based on the success of this film? Way to be a douchebag, mate.

You want to do something noble? Take every cent you've made from this movie and every cent you're poised to make (residuals, royalties, gross percentages, EVERYTHING), TRIPLE IT, and donate ALL OF IT to any number of anti-violence charities out there. After you've done that, don't say another word about the movie (positive or negative).

Where was this fake indignant outrage when you shot "I Love You Phillip Morris"? Surely the many lives that were affected by Steven Jay Russell's swindling is deserving of just the same treatment?
