Rudy Giuliani

DEFENDS A-ROD

'He's One of the Greatest Players Ever'

Former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani doesn't give two craps about steroids allegations ... telling TMZ, Yankees fans should STOP dumping on Alex Rodriguez because he's a baseball legend ... and a good person, too.

Yankees fans have been crushing A-Rod for years -- some say he's overpaid, some say he's overrated, some just like to give him grief -- but now that the famous third baseman is smack in the crosshairs of ANOTHER steroid investigation, the opprobrium has reached new levels.

But Giuliani tells us, it has to stop now -- "I was one of the first to say that Yankee fans should not boo A-Rod. He's on our team. You gotta root for him. I think he's one of the greatest players ever."

For the record, A-Rod admitted to using banned substances from 2001 to 2003 ... but he was never punished by MLB.

A-Rod ... good man?

  • Yes
  • No way
Now, with Rodriguez possibly connected to Biogenesis (which allegedly supplied PEDs to baseball players), Alex is drawing some serious fire from Yank fans.

Still, Rudy's got his back: "I happen to know him personally," Giuliani tells TMZ ... "He's a really good man."

So we gotta ask ...

Pretty sure Rudy's opinion isn't all that relevant anymore.

I'm on the exact same computer every day. No software has changed on it. Some days your site actually works correctly, most days it doesn't. Time to spend a little money on decent web developers since this has been going on for years no?

I swear, if you knew what the word root means here in Australia, you wouldn't be using it in that context. Makes me have impure thoughts (and laugh a lot) when Americans use the word in this context!

See, even if you're a die-hard Yank fan, there's no way you can back that dumbass statement with facts.

Yeah, he got great stats (boosted by all the HGHs he took over the years...), but he ain't clutch, like AT ALL, disappearing year in, year out when September shows up, and he ain't a team player, a big deal since baseball is a team sport. Add to this that he's an OK shortstop/pretty awful third baseman, and what you got is a douchebag with one World Series (thanks to Jeter...) who probably won't end up in Cooperstown, now that he has officially been ousted as a cheater.

In other word: the man sucks, so stop licking his shrunked balls, Rudy.

A person who lies or cheats is not a good person. A-Rod may be a "likable" guy, however a good man he is not! Our 8 year-old son idolizes A-Rod (we live in L.A. and he could idolize a Dodger player but no, he loves A-Rod) and it is difficult when my husband and I to tell our sons that their "idols" have been arrested for.....you name it. We had the same issue with our 10 year-old son when his favorite player from his favorite team was arrested for murder a week ago (Hernandez). Not understanding the enormity and seriousness of this case, our son continued telling us "he didn't do it". He has several Hernandez jerseys (which will be thrown into the garbage), posters, etc. I understand that these sports figures ARE normal human beings and must live their lives. However, they love public support and adoration to feed their egos. When one puts him/herself into a very public position, they need to be careful....a lot of children look up to sports figures yearning to "be like them". We use such experiences as teachable moments for our boys. Lying, cheating, drug use, domestic abuse, harming anyone with words OR objects will eventually destroy a person. It WILL catch up with you like it or not! "A true test of one's character is how one behaves when no one is watching...."

Guys, its just Rudy Giuliani opinion. You cant say that someone is wrong about their opinion unless they are stating it as a fact of life. He said that A-Rod is the best player HE has ever seen, just like some have mentioned that tom brady is the best they've ever seen.

So the law-and-order mayor doesn´t care if someone may have broken the law --- several laws, in fact --- in a big way? Smells like hypocrisy to me...
