Chris Brown

Sponsor Drops Out of Show

Because He Signed On

7/13/2013 9:51 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0625_chris_brown_articleA concert event in Canada scheduled to go down next month finds itself down one sponsor after they decided to pull out of the event once Chris Brown was added to the lineup.

A spokesman for Rogers Communications confirmed on Twitter last night the company was pulling its name from the show, which is scheduled to go down August 31 in Halifax. Responding to several complaints on Twitter, the spokesman wrote, "In light of today's announcement, we're withdrawing our sponsorship of the event."

He continued, "Rogers agreed to sponsor Energy Rush prior to Chris Brown's choice as a performer."

No way to mistake their meaning ... they want NO PART of anything involving CB.

Before you bow down to Rogers, how could they not know who they were paying all that money for, they deserve as much blame as the radio station that is bringing him here, to back out only after all the negative press is self serving, and the concert is scheduled for Dartmouth not Halifax, how Ironic Rihanna played the first concert of this annual event, Chris Brown will end this event, Maybe DRAKE will step in and save the day....

way to go rogers. i live in halifax and the radio station has come back to say this (Radio station spokesman Trevor Romkey said Energy 103.5 doesn’t condone Brown’s abusive past.

“We’re certainly not condoning any of his past behaviour,” Romkey said in an interview.

He said Brown is extraordinarily popular, and that his music is the focus of the concert.

“We don’t enter into the decision to have him simply based on his behaviour outside of his music,” Romkey said. “We approach artists as artists. We’re promoting his music.

“We’re not oblivious to his previous behaviour, but we judge him based on the merits of his music.”

He said the show will go on — including Brown’s performance — despite Rogers’ sponsorship withdrawal.) the pll of halifax i know alot of my friends and that is like what over 100 are not going and i have read as well that there are alot more not going as well

More companies need to grow a pair like this.

I think Brown is talented, but criminal behavior just shouldn't be rewarded. And don't go all "but that was a long time ago" on me because his criminally violent behavior and flagrant disregard for the law continues to this day.

Outstanding! It's a thing of beauty when people stand up and call out bad behavior for what it is. Fisty Brown is probably used to having "yes" people around, and people that are scared to say anything because they don't want to appear to be racist. Say hello to Rogers Fisty. It's about to affect your bank roll now clown.

Bieber should be next, they're not worthy of sponsorship.

Now just do the same for all things Bieber, and it's all good!
