Michael Jackson

Billion Dollar Man

7/15/2013 3:09 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
breaking news

Michael Jackson could have raked in as much as $1.5 billion had he lived ... at least that's what an entertainment money man told jurors today in MJ's wrongful death case.

Accounting guru Arthur Erk testified ... Jackson could have earned minimum $1.1 billion if he performed a worldwide concert and showcased his music in Las Vegas.  And Erk felt if ticket prices were high enough, the figure would soar to $1.5 bil by the time Michael turned 65.

There are a couple of problems.  First, MJ never planned a worldwide tour.  The "This Is It" tour was limited to London.  Second, the family is seeking more than $40 billion.

Another interesting thing ... Erk said he deducted what he felt Jackson would have spent between age 50 and age 65, when he hypothetically would have retired -- $134 million.

Oh the struggles of living on a budget.

MJ would never have been able to go on a world tour or have a regular Vegas show. He was way too frail for that. Plus didn't he leave a bunch of debts when he passed? AEG is still gonna have to pay through the nose though...

I am confused! Didn't Michael tell his fans in a statement...That this is it? So why claim he would be making money doing tours and las Vegas if he said he was retiring? Was he just lying to his fans to sell tickets? Just a thought.....

I think MJ would have collasped on stage. The dude was a wreck obviously with all the drugs he was taken. He would have lasted a month and half doing shows then crashed and burn. It's a sad state and still there an elephant in the room for there still seems to be mystery in the private life of MJ.

TMZ as usual with their inaccurat information.

The tour was not going to be just "limited to London".

And furthermore, Michael had other ventures in mind after he finished touring. The amount stated was only in regards to the tour and a show in Vegas.

He would have make much more money than was surmised.

Dear GOD I am so sick of the comments I have seen regarding this man. First and foremost Michael was NEVER BROKE! And secondly I wish people would get off the fact about the alleged child abuse cause lets be honest it didn't happen. If you look up files you will see Michael was worth a reported $7.5 billion dollars and now it is said about $12.5 billion. Think about this Michael owns half of Sony and the pull in about $2 billion dollars a year so half is Michael's. And also we cannot keep pushing the fact that it was Michael's fault about money loss, do you realize everyone was after his money and he had been sued 1500 times more than anyone ever. I am so sick of people dragging him through the mud it's like the bigger and more successful you become people try to bring you down..RIP Michael

Dose Of Reality

Yeah , nice outfit.

MJ could have made that money? "He" wasn't even able to rehearse let alone do a single show, even doing decades old dance routines and lip syncing the majority of the show.

AEG is in the business of putting on concerts, they are not in the business of running detox and rehab facilities. MJ's family seems to think AEG was supposed to be his personal savior.
Just Say No kiddies.

Once again your reading comprehension skills are lacking.

The amount stated is if things had gone according to plan and that Michael had not been murdered by Murray's medical incompetence.

mj fan forever

Michael Jackson did not plan a worldwide This Is It Tour but was also planning to go to Africa, India, Japan, go around the world and do that experience with his children, according to Kenny Ortega, and then stop with the live performing. He was also planning to do movie musicals, a 3-D Thriller motion picture. With NO doubt would have made a great deal of money, only with the This Is It Tour the tickets went sold out instantly when the sale JUST started. Michael Jackson has never failed to make huge amount of money. The prosecution in murderer's trial estimated and asked over $100 million. Not enough for greedy unnatural mother Katherine and her family of leeches like her, so she forced the prosecution to drop the restitution request, knowing that AEG was much more rich than a murderer sociopath mentally disturbed who also claimed to be broke; no matter if with this she gave him the permision to make money shamefully exploiting Michael Jackson's name!!! But this moron cannot say he would have "retired", Michael Jackson IS a genius who was continuously creating and loved to do that. He is unique and unmatched. And his fans from around the planet always loved and will love him forever.

"Michael said he wasn't doing a Vegas residency but was going on a world tour, taking in 30 cities next year.

He said he wanted to do it for his kids. He wants them to see what he does, and he wants to take them on the road. He said he was on his way to Los Angeles to finalize the details."

Wrong, "if" he would have made $1.5B he would have spent $2.5B, after 40 plus years he was dead broke, now he would have curbed his spending habits?
