Decides Fate of Cory Monteith's Character

"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy finally broke his silence on Cory Monteith's tragic death ... addressing both the actor's desire to get clean and what will happen to his character on the show.

Murphy spoke to several media outlets Saturday -- one week after Cory OD'd on heroin.

Ryan said, "It’s always sad and shocking when somebody so young dies, but one of the things that made it even more upsetting is that so many of us who knew and loved him were actively involved in trying to get him better."

He added, Cory was working hard as well, recently telling him, "I want to get better."

But it wasn't easy ... Ryan recalled the last time he saw Cory (in June in Fire Island). He said he felt something was off, "I honestly couldn’t tell what was going on with him. He didn’t seem quite himself, but when I confronted him he claimed he was clean."

As for the fate of "Glee" -- whose season was delayed two weeks -- Ryan says Cory's passing will be addressed in episode 3 ... which will be a tribute to the actor and deal with the death of his character, Finn.

TMZ broke the story ... it was previously unknown how Finn would be written out of the show. Producers called a meeting earlier in the week to figure it out.

Drug test your actors at the beginning of the production and randomly every quarter. If the tests show drugs they don't have a script for, fire them. Easy. This way, you won't be running around in chaos figuring how you are going to write out the Mon-crashed-myself actors of the world.

Seriously

Any production with a known previous or current heroine using actor should be proactive and already have the end of life episode in the can. Just in case...

A "tragic" death would be the brave firefighters who recently lost their lives trying to protect others...that's tragic. Cory's death was at his own hand. Every time he shot up, it was HIS CHOICE. And please people, no comments about how hard it is to fight addiction blah, blah, blah....I KNOW it's a battle every, single day to stay clean , but IT'S ALL ABOUT CHOICE. Cory chose to shoot up instead of calling someone. At the moment he stuck that needle in his vein, he made the choice to feed his addiction instead of fight it. Tragic death, no. Tragic CHOICE, yes. No sugar coating this in the show...have him die as he lived, by his own hand, with a needle in his arm. Time to man up Glee....

Wow, these comments aren't even half of the evil things being said and yet the internet is going to breed even more hateful people because it's easy to just run your fingers across a keyboard, saying whatever you want. You people need to just evaporate. RIP Cory Monteith.

They are making this kid Corey sound like a hero. Sorry, but he was a JUNKIE...PERIOD..... What kind of an example is the show Glee showing younger kids? Let him die on the show, they way he lived...DOING DRUGS< & DYING BY DRUGS>>>>ENOUGH ALREADY...He did this to himself. Don't make him be a martyr.

Sick of Hollywood gloryifying these STAR junkies. It's sad when young person dies of cancer a car accident or is shot to death for no reason or dies from some other dreadful disease there is no cure for like AIDS or anything else. This junkie had a choice and he chose death.

No..What should happen is they should take a long hiatus with the show to find a suitable Finn to replace him. The last thing Cory would want to happen is to see Rachel with someone else other than Finn. But they wont be loyal to him because it's just to hrd for the team to find someone that Lea accepts as Finn...totally understand. So they will probably kill him off saying he went somewhere to college and can;t follow him in the story. Rachel loses contact with him and then Jesse St. James comes back into Rachels life and weds her.

We won’t allow Ryan Murphy to written out Monteith’s character on Glee RYAN CAN RE-CAST another ACTOR TO PLAY FINN CHARACTER OR RYAN CAN GET RIDER OR JAKE TO Step UP AND BE THE NEXT FINN HUSTON
I WILL STILL CONTINUE TO WATCH GLEE I AM DEVASTATED
FINN IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS TO WATCH ON GLEE
COREY MONTEITH IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ACTORS

Cory Monteith Would Want Us “To Smile Again… Laugh Again

CORY WOULD WANT US TO CONTINUE TO KEEP WATCHING GLEE FOR at least 10 SEASONS

CAN THE FOX NETWORK RENEW GLEE FOR 10 SEASONS COULD the FOX NETWORK DEDICATED GLEE in the Memory of Cory Monteith

I've tried to find Mr. Murphy's email address, but cannot. If anyone can get this message to him, please ask him not to sugar coat the episode about Finn's death. I just read they are not going to mimic how Cory actually died. I think they should reconsider; there are a lot of young very impressionable teens out there watching the show. This is the opportune time to show them just how bad drugs are. Please reconsider telling how he really died so they see the reality of drugs. Otherwise you lost a moment that could actually bring some meaning to this tragic death. Thank you.
