Celine Dion

Bigger Than Michael

So Claims AEG

7/25/2013 10:42 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
breaking news

It's Billie Jean vs. Titanic, and AEG claims the ship wins hands down.  Translation -- AEG is trying to convince the Michael Jackson jury that Celine Dion is bigger than MJ.

AEG exec John Meglin is on the stand in the wrongful death case, scoffing at the Jackson family's claim that Michael would have earned $1.5 billion had he lived.

Meglin told the jury it's his opinion Celine is a bigger star and therefore more bankable than MJ ever would have been.  Yet according to reports, Celine is worth a measly $400 mil.

Fun facts:  Jackson ranks #3 in most albums sold worldwide -- more than a billion (behind the Beatles and Elvis) . Celine ranks #9 at 200 million albums.

As for Grammys, MJ also has her beat with 13 Grammys to her 5.

So we gotta ask ...

Why do these people keeping trying to say that????? Michael Jackson's wealth estimates that these idiots keep bragging about was based on PRE-93'SEXUAL MOLESTATION SCANDAL. Not after. Certainly not after the 2005 fiasco.

Michael Jackson WAS hugely successful and he WAS setting records and he DID have the highest grossing albums worldwide, but not after 1993. His History album, bombed compaired to Dangerous. The only reason it sold as many units as it did was because it was a DOUBLE ALBUM and Sony broke it up into seperate sales for each record. People had to buy two for every one unit when it first came out. But Sony counted every one as two sold. Then boasted the sales numbers. Then they broke the album up and sold it seperately but counted them as a double sale anyway. Then when Blood On The Dance floor came out, it tanked hard. It didn't sell a fraction of the Dangerous album. It did even worse than History did. Then Invincible came out and totally bombed. It was his worst album ever.

Michael Jackson was on his way DOWWWWWWN! And the only reason we didn't see worse album sales was because he didn't even release another album in the years before he died. The only reason his show for THIS IS IT sold out was because it was the last tour ever and that sold it. Michael was never going to make the money he made during Thriller, Bad, and Dangerous again had he lived and these damn idiots at AEG and even his own family are counting those sales figures as a base to calculate his future possible earnings from and it's wrong. Michael's career was finished after his last sexual molestation scandal. He wasn't pulling in any more money which is why he was losing everything he had, and why he had to do the This Is It tour in the first place. If he was pulling in so much money, he wouldn't have died broke. This is a fantasy world these people are living in. Let's add up the real money he made after 1993. Let's see where his finances really went after 1993. Let's calculate steadily down from there because that's where his career was headed. Let's see just how much money he wasn't going to be making had he lived another 20 years from 2009.

Michael Jackson was a washed up has-been that too many people could tell was a homosexual pedophile and his image was permanently stained for the rest of his life. This last tour was a tabloid headline because he was retiring for good. Or so he said. And he would never have even made the first tour date anyway he was so loaded on drugs and so washed up. I was totally expecting a sudden "collapse from exhaustion" a day before first curtain call and a complete postponement/cancellation of the This Is It tour anyway. I never believed seeing how bad he looked at the announcement of it, that he'd even make it to the first curtain call. Never. And I was right. His career was OVER.

MIKE JACK selling out concerts in minutes , well yeah when u only do concerts every other decade. He had major out flow $$$ issues so what he brings in 1/2 or more goes right out so the $$$ he would pocket , i doubt would be more then Celine will pocket in the next 10yrs.

Celine is good but MJ is bigger his HISTORY tour is the biggest tour in...HISTORY with attendance of 4.5 million people so lets just be honest here..He has achieved more and has been humble about it...R.I.P Mike

Look at this logically.

AEG is in the business of concert promotion. To make money, you actually need a performer to perform, to do shows consistently, on schedule and without doing things that drive costs up, like extravagant expenses and demands and special insurance against drug overdose.

Perhaps MJ would be bigger in AEG's eyes if they were in the business of drug rehabilitation as the family thinks.

If a performer doesn't perform,
they are worth nothing.

Celine was always just okay for me. I was never really impressed by her voice. I was usually impressed by the likes of Whitney houston and Michael Jackson and hell even Mariah carey.
