'Eye of the Tiger' Singer

From Some Dude's Basement

7/25/2013 10:37 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

OK, this is pretty cool ... it's weird ... but it's cool.

Jim Peterik -- the original lead singer of the band Survivor -- busted out his nicest guitar, and his tightest white pants, and jammed out an acoustic version of "Eye of the Tiger" in a basement ... and it was awesome.

It all went down Tuesday night at a home in Chicago, where the guys from "Hardcore Pawn: Chicago" were holding a live chat for their fans.

Jim -- who was born in Illinois -- stopped by to hang out ... and while he was there, the 62-year-old rock legend busted out a rendition of his biggest hit -- you know, the song from "Rocky III."

Now, watch the video ... put on your finest track suit ... and go run up some stairs.

It's what Mickey would want ...

I predict that Mr. Peterik will be the next Mr. Weiner.

This is kinda sad. It seems he is stuck in the past, when he was at his prime, and unable to move on.

Jim Peterik is one of the nicest persons I've had the honor to meet. I noticed that he made sure that he remembered people's names. He showed an interest in the people he met, asking them about their lives, jobs, families and friends.

Jim is NOT the original singer of Survivor. He is the original keyboardist. The original singer is actually Dave Bickler, who is also the voice behind the 'Real Men of Genius' beer ads you hear on the radio.

TMZ, you should really check your facts before you do a story.

Jim Peterik was the lead singer of the IDES OF MARCH. Their biggest hit was Vehicle. Jim went on to form the Survivor as one of the chief songwriters and played keys.

Dave Bickler was original lead singer of Survivor from 1977–1983 and 1993–1999. From 1999-2009, Dave was the singing voice behind the highly successful ‘Real Men of Genius’ Bud Light radio and TV commercials, the most award-winning radio campaign in advertising history!

Actually, Jim was the original keyboardist and one of the co-founders of the band. Dave Bickler was the original lead singer.

You can book him too: 125 $ for 45 min.
BUT do NOT give him an alcoholic drinks! He will chase your daughters, piss on your carpet and smash his guitar on you head.

The "rock legend" ? Seriously ?

Jim is anything but sad or stuck on the past. I've met him a couple of times and he's extremely kind and humble, and enjoying the fruits of his many successes in semi-retirement. My guess is that someone involved in this knew Jim and asked him to do it, and he thought it'd be a hoot so he did. That's just how laid back and cool he is. For the record - about 2 months ago I saw him perform at a theater in Michigan (which he packed) and he killed it. Dude can shred the HELL out of a guitar and puts on a great show... And he really is a really great guy. He's also one of the most prolific songwriters in rock & roll and, quite literally, write the book on it. Rock on, Eye of theTider, rock on...

I'm soooo glad there are people out there that know that TMZ is WRONG on their "fact" that Jim was the original singer! Grrr! I hate when they say things before they check these things out. Seriously!

There must be some audio codec disaster there, it makes the base of my spine disharmonise and drives a subcarrier of explosive nausea all the way up to the elbow.
