The LAPD has CLOSED its missing persons investigation involving the wife of Scientology leader David Miscavige ... because cops had a face-to-face meeting with her ... TMZ has learned.

The investigation was launched after LAPD detectives received reports that Shelly Miscavige had not been seen publicly in 6 years.  As we previously reported, one of the people who contacted cops was actress Leah Remini.

Law enforcement tells TMZ they have determined the missing persons allegation is "unfounded."

One question we asked that we could not get answered ... Did cops determine Shelly was or was not being held against her will?

Hopefully it doesn't turns out to become a case like we see on T.V or in the movies..where there is more to this or that the Scientology lawyers are so powerful and have cops in their pockets and she really is still missing and they're telling the public what they wanna hear and they try and make Leah Remini out to be just some crazy woman with unfounded accusations. There is something wacky going on here and I guess we will just see what time tells. Either way good for Leah Remini for getting out when she did she obviously did it for a reason.

I'm sure she was told if she said ANYTHING that made police think she was in distress or being held against her will she would be beat or sent to a slave camp for the rest of her life. Why has she not been seen in 6 years? COME ON! This cult destroys people.

Sounds like the cult has the LAPD in their back pocket? Missing person info comes out in the news and that very day the LAPD claims they've already spoken with her. The same LAPD that says the Hastings' mysterious car explosion was just an accident. This bad PR is suicide for the cult and so it should be.

All of it sounds odd. Why is Remini not happy just to be out of it. Now she risks looking like a person with an cad to grind. Personally I don't give a crisp about Scientologist they aren't paying my bills and if grown people want to join this group let them, that's what democracy is all about. If these Scientologist have committed a crime then why hasn't the FBI investigated them and arrested them for something?

OK

So the police say they spoke to her and everyone is supposed to believe it?

I am glad Leah Remini did do something instead keeping quiet and be afraid. She did something.

But I am curious to know why the police close the case so quickly without seeing if 'missing' person wants to stay.

Deprogramming is an intense and sometimes lengthy process that doesn't always work. A friend of mine was named as a defendnt in a civil federal kidnapping law suit for a failed deprogramming filed by these nuts. The parents were charged with criminal kidnap, which was eventually dismissed.

These people stop at nothing. I think it's highly unlikely the cops saw the real Mrs. Miscavage. Fake ID's are a dime a dozen. They should have fingerprinted the woman.

If the cops found her, show her to us. Otherwise, my money is on the cops being bought off or scared off.
Stay safe, Leah. I will pray for you.

The fact that it took this much effort shows she's be held against her will.. if she was free. .she would of made a public statement the next day..
